Overdoing This Weather/Night Business?
« on: April 01, 2001, 01:20:00 PM »
Just wondering what the general consensus is.  I logged in Sunday for a few hours and if it wasn't too dark to fight because of dusk/night, it's because of clouds.  In the case of the clouds, it would be nice if you had a choice where to fly, but they seem to be everywhere.

Hopefully, it was just bad timing on my part.

I think you just came in at a bad time.  I've never had a problem finding clear skies to fly through.

As for the night, I really enjoy night flying.....I only wish it was longer so's my Lanc can make it all the way to HQ and back before dawn, the actual window of total black is only about 5 mins long.

Have to agree with bowser on the night time.. its too long.  Its beautiful, but I don't think its right for the MA.

Lol approx 5 minutes of night time is too long ?????
As for the clouds they do not cover the whole arena and even if your near em you can always fight above em if you wish.
If your finding it that difficult mebbe you need to check/adjust your display settings.
Btw when it does get dark i find its easier to see if you turn off lights etc in your play room.

If it wasn't for night I wouldn't buff at all. The thrill of taking an unescorted Ju88 to a base under the cover of darkness does appeal to me, where taking a B17 or Lanc anywhere, anytime doesn't.

im guesing those that cant see at night in this game either need to turn up there monitor brightness or get a pair of friggen glasses.

BTW just aim right under that big neon red icon.

It's not a technical issue.  I have a TNT Ultra2, and I've cranked the brightness and gamma right up to the point where everything is almost washed out. Anyways, I don't expect to be able to see clearly in night or bad weather.  That's fine.  My point is those conditions are too prevalent.

It may not be completely night for very long, but the onset of night or the "dusk" is almost as hard to see in, so I include that in dusk/night.  It's a considerable period of time.

Is there a scheduled rotation of day/night?  How long are the periods of each, etc. ?

I do not mind the darkness, but I do mind the map/clip board being darkened.  I've flown the Cessna at night many times, and the flashlight works everytime

Man I love the night and the cloods they look great, the darkened clp board does suck some though.
I also wish the night lasted a bit longer say 10 more minutes.

I kinda wish the half-tracks and the tanks had their headlights turned on. Kinda hard to see the ground at night, plus you could see them from the air...

I love the night and the storm cloud layer. Unfortunately, it is currently too light under the storm clouds for them to have the same tactical advantage as when they were originally brought into the game. I also wish the night would last at least twice as long as it does, because it doesn't afford enough cover (In terms of time) for night buff operations.

I agree J_A_B, its not just the 5-10 mins of darkness its the 20 minutes or more of dusk, then darkness then 20 minutes or more til daylight again.

basically if i'm on the server i just climb til its over.
If i login its night, I log out
