You know, I have to disagree now.  .50's are weaker than Mensa's pick up lines at recess.

Flew a sortie in MW, using nothing but .50s and after 30 minutes or so, was forced to RTB due to severe lack of fuel.  I had 968 rounds of .50's left when I exited the plane to go along with the 10 kills.  If the .50s were stronger, I would have had more ammo left over but I didn't.  At least that's how Mensa explained it to me when we were having a smoke before home ec.

Don't know what planes you fly against but the American planes on my arse seem to have no issues taking off wings/tails/engines from my plane.

i use a simple circle with cross hair's running through it. and it so happens where they cross it's about 300. all i do is put the cross hair just above the plane. Normally ill rip his tail off from his 6. I also find it food for shooing someone on the turn. I normally make shot's 400 out while turning and can take his wing off. All the American planes i have set to that gun site. Ive got over 100 site's and it seems that one's the best.

Rogent,

200 is too close for p51 flying in my opinion.

I have mine at 300 all guns.  If you think about it I always assume 50 cals tend to do more damage when I'm flying real fast.  I open fire at 400 odd and by the time they connect it could be around the 300 distance.

50 cals are good.  Some exceptions being hitting 190,s, 109's, La's, typh/temp.  These planes seem to sometimes get away with a good solid burst say they get oil hits only and fly off.

I would reserve 200 and less for 303's.  Bearing in mind 50cals lose power the further they travel 600 and above will require a plane to be pretty much straight and level.

However I have had some success finishing off kills from 800 zoomed in.  You know the 190 types trying to escape.  They have to be flying near level tho.

Any shots 800-1000 your talking some good markmanship.

Im kinda torn as to where to setup my convergances. Normally my 0.50s are setup far out, at least 550. If the plane has cannon to I normally set the MGs at 350 and cannon at 300.

Im still searching for a sweet spot.

I've had it at 375 for the inner set, and +25 for each next outer set.  Anything closer than that denies effective bursts on rope and runner shots.
The only time I had it different in all the time I've played AH is 500y for all guns, when going after bombers.  But that was only for P47s, and I haven't bothered using that convergence setting since the damage model granularity was changed.
