Not sure what you mean by wanting to be "recognized", but don't expect too much at once. When I first started playing, there was some stuff that other pilots did that absolutely blew me away (figuratively and literally). I had absolutely NO idea how they made their planes perform like that.
Then I progressed into the middle stage, which is a large phase, wherein basically I began to understand what these great pilots were doing to me, but they could still do it better than I could. The further you get into the middle phase, the more and more you understand exactly where your victorious opponent excelled in their fight, and usually you can pinpoint the mistake you made. But, just because you are understanding what they are doing doesn't mean you can do it yourself.
I guess the point I'm getting at is you can't expect to jump too much at once. There will always be others better than you, even if you learn and learn for years. Then again, there will always be others you are better than
