Add 6 feet of hedge on v-base.
« on: February 22, 2008, 08:15:39 AM »
I wish the hedge at the rear of spawning hangar would have about 6 extra feet added to the right. This way the campers who are in the know about were to position them selves inside the industructable hangar so they can get a shot on you, & there is no way to return fire because of the angle you spawn in at.

Better yet would be random spawn points on Vbases. But the extra hedge would be easier to put in game.

Random spawns are possible, ask some map makers in the Terrain Editor forum to add random spawns to V-bases on terrains. If you hurry, you might be able to persuade Ghastly before he submits his new MA terrain for analysis.:aok

Yes, random would work, but what about being able to spawn out of one of the other hangers? Would that be much harder? I’m curious as I’ve asked for something along these lines before to prevent camping, or at the least make it harder. The hedge is good to but they can just move it in closer. Still works and when you shoot all you hit is the hanger but they can hit your mud flaps and kill you.

I like the random hanger idea...maybe the pad VH would still get the majority of spawns, but it would add a twist if a guy spawned out of another hanger.

How about like with maned guns. You get to pick what gun you want to be in. Yhy not when you pick a plane? You get the same view when the gun, and click the hanger you want to spawn out of when you click H.

It would make it three times harder to spawn camp V bases, and alot easier to catch M3s that are zooming to your map room if you can spawn from the maproom hanger. Or when your base is being vulched you and some buddies all roll from different hangers/runways at the same time.

I agree with your post 100% when the camping hangar issue was brought up in the past  we got the 3 seperate hangar configuration. I don't know why selecting a hangar to spawn from was not used or why it couldn't work, so any way this is what we got I dont think they left a spot on purpose for people to camp from but right now we do.

yeah seems nuts that there are 3 vbases and you can only spawn from one of them. camping all three would be alot harder to do. problem is with spawn selection I guess - theres currently no way to implement it, so random spawn (like the remote v spawns already do) would be the way to go. :aok

At first I thought this would be a little gamey because someone could say "Oh, well he's camping hanger X, so I will spawn out of hanger Y." Then I rethought and said "Well you can pick what hanger to fly out of." The reason there, is there usually isn't GV's camping the runways, and if anything there are planes flying around.

I agree.. make it so you can pick which hangar you spawn from.. or just make it random!

If one hangar is down, then you can spawn at either of the other two.

If two hangars are down, then you can only spawn at the one.

Maybe add a feature to spawn at the middle of the base (at a random location, such as a normal Vehicle spawn).

Same should go with fighters and bombers too, if you choose to spawn at the hangar.

Simply randomizing the spawning points on all fields would be a good addition.

As to the Idea of picking a hanger to come from being gamy,, Lets look at it,, If I’m coming out to jump in my tank knowing their are enemy tanks about me and my crew will likely take note of the enemy tank waiting on us and may decide to NOT clime in the tank he wants us to, Id likely clime in to one some place ells and come get him. Just as a pilot is likely to try to up from a place of advantage and come from a hanger if he can. All good points though and Im just woundering if any one can shed light on if the hanger Idiea is possable.

I don't need no hedge to break a VH spawn camper, but it's still not a bad idea.

Personally, I like breaking a VH hanger spawn camper.  I up a t34 which has the fastest turret speed and spin around and pop the camper.

If you get hit the first time, respawn really quickly.  Since you don't appear to the camper right away, and it takes time for his gun to reload, you can usually get around on him before he can get you.

Err...that's what we're getting at. If you sit in the indi-hanger the right way you can hit them, but they can't hit you.
