To you Allies in sector 8,9 tonight was one heck of a fight. Definitely made my weekend, best FSO frame I have participated in awhile!

Was defintly a blast flying with the Muppets against the Allies!

I dont know how many allied planes there were but it made for a real interesting furbal. We tried to keep you in a soup bowl area and we thought for the amount of forces we had did as well as anyone could.  We thought we contained you very well but later heard Dantoo calling out F4/6s in the area.Did some of your flight escape and ravage the Ju88 package? All in all a great night as BK said!

WHAT 88s?

As of T+50 (I was dead, but still in the tower) the task group stopped flashing and all we had seen were the dozens of 190s sitting on a 25k perch. :p

I was in the same fight, check the filmed.. only one flight of 190s in the area, which would have been the muppets. Sax was leader of the low cap and got caught by the high 190s lol, who woulda thought ... high 190s. At the time of the engagement, the only high Cap we had was a Squaddie and I. The fight was pretty decisive, 190s mad quick work of the F6F's. Shortly afterward I was run down by the 190s. Rolled the dice and decided to go with putting the majority of the  numbers low cap at 15k and we got burned. Another frustrating frame  :o

Virtue how many Allied squads where in that area? Was it just the 613th SOS , VMF251 and the Fighting 31st? Or where there more then that? Cause we ran into what looked like a fresh batch of  Fm2s towards the end of the frame not sure who they where.

I dont recall how many sq's were in the area, looked as if there were only two on Film. Our sq in F6Fs and another sq on low cap duty in F6Fs, I do recall seeing Fm2's, might be wrong. Didnt have enough time to hit the icon switch keys. And i did'nt see any on film during our engagement.  So if they were there, the might have just disregarded the Enemy fighters in 8-9 sector to look for Ju88s, which was probably smart thing to do, Fm2s vs 190s :lol

VMF-251 was the outer picket line at 8.9/9.9 with 6 F6Fs. However heavy cloud cover forced us to split High/Low to watch for the strike group, which AFAIK never even materialized, as all we saw were your 190s (regarding the number counts, you're welcome to try and get an accurate count with a swirling ceiling of red above you while ducking in and out of clouds trying not to get picked and constantly dipping and evading next frame ;) ).

I believe the Tomcatters had their patrol sector further to the north, so it was probably just us and 613th initially. I'm not sure who the second group of FM-2s was, but they may have been from one of the other patrol sectors redirected to assist.

We were north of you.  We didn't see anything until we were ordered directly to C126.  We arrived around T+60 and engaged the remnants of Ju88s.  The fleet was already hit hard and we mopped up what was there.  The enemy either snuck completely by us on our patrol or did not bother flying near us.

The 88s must have arrived in the last 10 minutes of the time requirements, then, because as of about T+50 there had only been 190s in the sector, (VMF-251 was fighting almost right OVER the task group the entire time and we never saw the 88s) and 126 stopped flashing shortly after I bought it.

I was with the JU-88s.  I saw a call of T+50 just as we found the ships.  They were in far back end of the square giving us the furtherest travel time.  We went straight out to the area and at about a sector short we got a call from the 190s that the ships were in 8.9.1.

We were approaching 8.9.9 at the time so we swung south and went round the square just outside its border rather than go through the middle.  We were at about 9k in thick cloud.  We entered the square at 8.9.2/1 and could see no ships, no planes.  We went to the border and turned north and descended to 3k.  Suddenly the cloud just disappeared.  Two destroyers were spotted in 8.9.4 to our north and we rolled in to attack.  One of our formations discoed.  I commenced an attack at about the time an F6F was sighted coming from the east.

The power went off and I was left in the dark.  Still not certain what happened past that point.

The attack was made only by two of the smaller squads.  The loss of Ju88s to discos proved to be a pain in the butt but you can't predict these things.

I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.
