Just to clear a few misconceptions up...

about commonly believed RL bomber altitudes ,tactics ,ect  for those here who are a bit misinformed.

In any case , some great reading of a diary of an actual bomber pilot for all. :)

His description of the Schweinfurt raid is amazing. Also, I never knew that the B-17 could carry wing mounted bombs ( Munster raid ) .

He only lists alts on about 1 in every 5. On top of that there are many other reports available (folks have linked them in the past) that I've read that list much lower altitudes.

Hardly a representative sampling of bomber alts. Just playing devil's advocate.

Well you believe that the Polesti raid was conducted solely from 6 to 8 k AGL out of bases with 2 year old 200 foot pine trees...
