Manned Guns?

Why do manned guns kills earn no perks and why no ranking for manned gun sorties, we got stats, but not rank.

I'm prolly wrong but wasn't there an issue with "scorers" taking command of CV's and deliberately holding the way point over PT spawns and or sunken enemy TG's to reap loads of 5 Inch (manned gun) kills of PT boats ?

Can I get a clarification please?  I know we get no perks for manned guns, but does it in fact help/hurt ranking?

It does nothing.  There is no scoring catagory for it so it neither hurts nor helps.

Not sure why.

Probably the same inane reason that buffs can,t score on aircraft they shoot down.

But you can spawn camp and land 75 kills in a Tiger.

It is not factored in your rank. Rank is determined according to this.

Except for 8" ships guns, gunning is defensive only. I suspect that is the reason it is not included in ranking or perks. The object and mission of bombers is to destroy ground targets, not shoot down aircraft.

Do "defensive" air kills in a PT boat count towards your rank?

Or if a PT kills a GV on the shore?

If I shoot down (defensively of course) a plane with my tiger tank, does that count?

What exactly is the "object and mission" of a PT boat or tank?

I understand now. We're good.   ;)

Of course, I don't speak for HTC, but I can understand how it's scored like it is. In the category of gvs, the ostie and M-16 are specifically designed for air kills. The system is setup so that the category is scored a certain way, and not scored by individual vehicle. So, those air kills in a Tiger, Panzer or PT Boat would have to count, or the Ostie and M-16 kills wouldn't count.

There is one consolation. When you land a mission , and get to shoot down a couple 163's you can think to yourself " hehe, that dewd just lost a heap of perkies :D "
