What happened HiTech?
« on: February 27, 2008, 03:40:25 AM »
I have a film here HiTech. In the film another pilot collides with me. He died, I asked another pilot that was in the area. Serves him right too. :D

I also died, but didn't get a collision message. A P-51 that landed a couple rounds on me got the kill, he was to far away when I died to have been shooting me. I had to slow the film down to .25 speed to see the C205 firing at the last second. I'm thinking I might have died to his guns, but that he died from colliding first and the P-51 that pinged me got kill credit. Is this correct?

Download the film from this link.

*edit* Curious as to why I didn't get kill credit for the C205 since I did ping him a few times before the collision.

*edit again* Last edit, I swear! :D

Also, if the C205 hit me with his guns, even though I died shouldn't I still hear the sounds of each round hitting me?

You blew up first Elfie.   The 205 died after you.  51 pinged ya a couple times and got the kill just by being relatively close

Serves ya right for flying such a dirty Corsair.  Who is your crew chief anyway?  :)

If the 205 died after I did, why didn't he get kill credit? And if I blew up first, how did he collide with me?

My crew chief heard HiTech had some really nice Scotch so he went to Grapevine to see if he could get himself a drink. :)

Collisions CAUSE damage, but they don't count towards damage for a kill.

If you get a kill from a ram, and you never shot them, it's a proxy kill.

I don't think the 205 shot ya.  As a master of getting in collisions, I've seen this a million times :)

Only one who shot ya was the 51

If the 205 didn't shoot me, and I didn't get a collision message, then how/why did I die? :)

Also, if you slow down the film to .25 normal speed you can see tracers from the 205 at the last second.

Just to be clear on what I call *blown up* (reference to a couple above posts), here is a screenie where a niki driver is wondering where all his pieces parts are. :D

The "you have collided" text does not show up in the film viewer.

And you most definitely did collide per this screen shot. Your pilot was decapitated. You took the killing blow first.

Edited for better pic.

That looks a rather unforgiving death.

The film viewer shows all text that was in the game. I should have gotten a collision message but I didn't, I double checked for that in the game right after it happened.

It doesn't show the "you have collided"  text. I noticed that when I did collision / lag tests in the DA.
