I'm worried. Very, very worried.

Why do I have a feeling this is going to either be directed by Michael Bay, or star Ben Affleck... :cry

According to the Internet Movie Database, a film about Billy Fiske titled The Few is in production and slated for release in 2008.

Ben Clinch, an RAF armourer for Billy Fiske and his comrades during the summer of 1940, said, "I can't see how they can make a film of Fiske's life. It was quite short. He was unremarkable, in the context of the squadron. He was just another pilot as far as we were concerned." Speaking to The Independent, Bill Bond of the Battle of Britain Historical Society argued that whilst Fiske was remarkable as a character, it was important to remember that he recorded no kills. "It is going to be a farce if we have the Yanks shooting down everything in sight, the battle was four weeks old when Billy was shot down. He made several sorties but he didn't shoot anything down, and his impact on the battle was negligible. We are concerned."

I smell more Grade-A Hollywood Bull-Plop in the offing. :(

I thought that the book "The Few" would make a good movie, but not if its just about Fiske. Each of the other 6 did more in the Battle, he just happened to be the only one famous before the battle.

Yes, if anyone has any contact info, or comes across anything liek a petition, PLEASE post it. I would actually picket in front of the premier of this one if all the info of it I've seen is accurate. Every comment I've seen on it from people in the know say its a total farce. Icluding this one-

The Few, a novel by Alex Kershaw, tells the stories of the men who flew in the Battle of Britain. As of 2003, a Hollywood film similarly named The Few was in preparation for release in 2008, based on the story of real-life US pilot Billy Fiske, who ignored his country's neutrality rules and volunteered for the RAF. A Variety magazine outline of the film's historical content[8] was said in The Independent to have been described by Bill Bond, who conceived the Battle of Britain Monument in London, as "Totally wrong. The whole bloody lot."

Sounds like its been in the offing for a while, but then a lot of flicks never get released for various reason, so theres hope...

And those who don't know who he is- http://www.fiskes.co.uk/billy_fiske.htm

He was quite a guy, and would make a good subject for a movie, but not if its a feature length film about his "exploits" in the BoB. He didn't do anything besides fly a few missions, MAYBE get a kill (depending on the source you check), and get critically injured trying to bring a burning Hurricane in when he could have bailed and probably been fine. Not the stuff Hero-flicks are made of...

If it's in production, I'd say it's already out of hand.

Anyway, Bruv, I'm betting that if Fiske hadn't shagged your Great Aunt Doreen while he was over there, then due to some freakish "butterfly effect", Operation Sealion would have gone ahead and you'd be eating sliced, fermented cabbage instead of fish and chips.

I think Bruv would make an excellent "creative consultant" on this project.  Unfortunately, after reading the initial post and seeing it is about an American, he may just attempt to sabotage the whole thing altogether.  They may want to tighten up their security, and monitor all flghts out of the U.K. for awhile, lol. Yeah, the whole thing sounds a Pearl Harbor II cheese-fest.  Now, a movie about the battle featuring someone like, say, Bob Doe, now I'd pay good money to see that one.  Oh, and btw Bruv, what can you tell us about the earthquake?  Sry, not intentionally trying to hijack this thing.

mmmm  fermented cabbage!

Although 7 Americans gave up their own personal safety to participate and one gave his life I doubt the few of the few would have made that much of an impact overall.

Any film entitled the few needs to have Bader, Johnnie Johnson, Sailor, crazy poles etc etc.

Just remake the original and add modern day CGI and I'm happy.

I don't know who started this "Everything that happened in WWII has to be bastardised to make it Americans Only", but its got to stop. The war had been going for over two years before we got there; we didn't instantly save the world as soon as we declared war; our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines weren't invincible genius supermen with god-like powers...

Oldest example of it I can think of is Steve McQueen in The Great Escape, and its gets exponentially worse from there.

I'm waiting to see one with an American in the Luftwaffe or the IJN. And the deep philosophical issues of killing your own countrymen while fighting for the enemy. And his love affair with a supermodel cabaret singer with huge blue eyes and D-cups.

Oh god, I just gave them the idea for the next bit of schlock, NOOO!!!

No, just anti-Hollywood.

Plus I'm sick of all these kids seeing this BS on the big screen and thinking its real, since we all know movies are ALWAYS accurate....

Hopefully Moelders or another high scoring german ace will be played by Mel Gibson, shooting down swathes of allied airmen.
"Willy's gone and made another,
Something like it's elder brother-
Wing tips rounded, spinner's bigger.
Unbraced tailplane ends it's figure.
One-O-nine F is it's name-
F is for futile, not for fame."
