Yes.:)    An awesome idea!  Instead of  the line "get me spitfires for my wing" when goering asks him what can be done to achieve air superiority he can say the line from 'independence day'-  "i gots to get me one of these!" as a spitfire roars by.:D

As historically inaccurate hollywood movies tend to be, (the film JFK comes to mind for some reason), I would bet it will have Ramboesque americans with superior skill and heat ray vision coming to the aid of the british forces.

A great war movie?  Can hollywood make one? Without bringing in the "look at how good we are" flag waving aspect. Or BS romance.

If the boys can come up with something anywhere near the quality of Das Boot, I will be impressed.

Saving private ryan is probably the closest.  Jarhead's good too.

all this begs the question...

Why don't brits make movies about the lives of their guys who fought in the battle of britan?

they have the studios and the actors and the material.

I think there needs to be a new law:

No one can make a WWII movie but Steven Spielburg and Tom Hanks.

Which is to say, I'm also not encouraged by George Lucas' planned Tuskegee Airmen movie.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Any movie that can be made has already been done. All they do is cut and paste the plots from old movies with new "actors" (read- overhyped celeb of the year) and reshoot it, give it a different name and try to pass it off as a new movie.

Didn't you know that?

I am not going to lose a moments sleep over the movie, who's in it, what the plot is, the main character or anything else about it. No one is forced to see a movie. If you don't like something about it, ignore it. When people don't pay for tickets even hollywierd will get the message.

But thats the thing- people will pay to see it, and they'll keep making them. Do you know anyone, WWII aviation enthusiast or not, who liked Pearl Harbor? Even my GF at the time, who knew absolutely nothing about the real history, hated it and thought it was a waste of film. But it made money, and despite all the articles and discussions obout its 100% inaccuracy some people still seem to take it as history. It almost seems that the more rediculous the movie, the better it does, and the more inaccurate the more people believe it.

The more people fuss and post about the movie the more interest they develop for it by others who might have just ignored it. They may just go to see if it's as bad as everyone said or vice versa. If you don't like something ignore it. It might come as a shock but hollywierd thrives on attention. If you deny it then it looks to gain it in another direction. Don't feed the machine until it make what you want. In any event a movie is not real life and you CAN go on living without thinking about it. :huh
