1 - Host image on a image hosting website (eg photobucket.com)

2 - Upload image a get the url for the image (Photobucket, for example has a feature that allows you to simply click a box that already has the forum tags included, copying everything you need to your clipboard). If this feature is not available simply right-click on the uploaded image, go to properties and copy the http:// address.

3 - Paste image url into your forum and wrap the url in these tags

(with spaces removed)

Result:

Done.

Well my test didn't work. What I am trying to do is post an actual picture. how do you guys do it.

1.: Mediafire is no picture hosting website. Use http://img1.imageshack.us/ for example
2.: a ".doc" file is no picture
3.: follow Xasthurs instructions step by step.

If you use http://www.imageshack.us click the "Browse" button, locate the picture you want to upload, and check the resize box. Hit the "Host It!" button.

Once it's done uploading, and on the next page, scroll to the very bottom, and copy the direct link.

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I see. Thanks.and I also worked out where to screen dump to ensure it saves as an image. I'm off and running now, cheers to all.
