Download AVG antivirus then scan youre entire computer and it will isolate the worm AVG is free give it a try and if that doesnt fix it you may need to do a complete reformat (clean off the harddrive) and start over

The best Anti-virus on the market is CA.

I have a program i could e-mail you that will recover just about everything off of a wiped hard drive, and i do mean anything, so after you recover it you can get everything back.Cuz remember this: just because you recovered it doesn't mean it still isnt there.

Many times format will not clear it eaither. The bug can be in the MBR. Best to delete the partition then repartition, format, and install.

I run NOD32 for AV and have never had any infections of any type. I recommend it highly. Second on your list should be a good software firewall. A software firewall will let you control what programs on your machine have access to the net. You'd be surprised what contacts outside sites from your machine, all in the background while your online.

I also run a NAT Router. For my home network of 5 machines.

What do yall need a KB for to play AH??? I do everything with my mouse and CH paraphernalia....

Programs your computer should never be run without.

Anti-Virus (Free download AVG , Avast, etc. Lots of Free downloads. Commercial stuff is <$25 a  year)

Spybot Search and Destroy (finds and destroys spybots and other nasty stuff. Allows you to set an interface that will not allow registry changes without your permission.  Free download)

Adaware (another type of search and destroy. Free download)

Cleanup (Kills everything in ALL your temp folders. If I run this first Spybot and Adaware dont ever find anything to kill. Free download)

Hijack This (A registry key killer. Will enable you to remove ANYTHING from ANY registry on your computer. Free download)

Firewall (Limits what can be installed across the net to your computer. Should come as part of your Operating System unless you run something other than Windows)

If you dont have most or all of these on your computer and you get online..... you are asking to get smacked.:O

It might be wise to also consider running your operating system on one hard drive and put all your other stuff on another. Then if you have to wipe and start all over... just erase the OS drive and plug n play the other afterwards. No lost data.

Just some things to consider.

Trend Micro has a FREE on line virus scan... Go to their site http://www.trend-micro.com

OR... if you're running windowsXP(or later) use the system restore feature in "help and support" and restore your system to a time BEFORE you started having "issues'.

Windows built in firewall is decent at best. It does not control outgoing connections.

Spybot S&D is a good one to add to the list...

I also Have RegMechanic.... finds errors in your registry and fixes them.

As a side note.... I ran 8 years online with no protection and never was infected with anything. Of course there were ad trackers.

You can't simply reinstall windows.

You have to reformat the drive too.  Might want to repartition it while you're at it.

Go to bootdisk.com and download the Windows ME OEM bootdisk.  Install it onto a floppy.

Then boot with the floppy, run fdisk, and follow the directions to wipe the partitions.

Then install your XP CD and reboot.  Follow the installation instructions to repartition/reformat the drive, and install a fresh copy.

This should take care of your trojan.

reboot to bootable media (something with a command.com file)

FDISK

delete primary partition

create new partition

Format (NTFS)

install Windizzle

Install all service packs BEFORE drivers

Install drivers

instal DX 9C

install AH

install hot lead into enemy of your choosing.

I have an older copy of XP, it doesn't have the SPs onboard the CD-ROM. I have to install it, THEN drivers, because I need to have my desktop, my networking, my NIC all that stuff installed before I can use windows update to get all the SPs and updates (etc).
