He did some fine work and had vision, but I also have to say he became overrated along with most of the TV builders. His influence will be missed.

I would agree.

I bet he was a fine craftsman and a good designer in his day even if i think hotrods, funnycars or whatever they are called are silly. I must say that from what ive seen on the tv show both him and his workshop manager had the worst leadership skills ive seen. There were some very talentede employees there tho even if two of them went to work for Foose. I dont blame them

Boyd had many faults but being a inovator and a craftsman weren't among them.  He was highly influential in the hot rod community and his work will influence hot rodders well into the future.  He was a hell of a visionary.

It makes good television. Reality TV, ain't.

Oh, and hot rods are no sillier than boats.

So true if you compare apples to oranges. If you did want to compare something that you really cant compare in the first place, the correct thing would be to compare cars with boats. ;)

You were comparing a tiny segment of cars to boats in general so your comparrison was way off.

If you were to compare hot rods with say twin hulled speedboats or any other type of specific boat that had no other use than carry 2 people around then i would agree with you.

You knew EXACTLY what I meant. A pleasure boat is a pleasure boat. If you don't NEED it for work or for basic transportation then it is no different than a hot rod.

You are still way off. A pleasure boat is not a pleasure boat. It can serve ALOT more functions than a hotrod can ever do.

I would say tho that a hot rod serves the same purpose as a jetski or 2 man speedboat.. not a pleasure boat or boat in general.

It serves the same purpose as a bass boat, or a sail boat, or a ski boat, or even a big cruiser. To allow the user/owner to go have fun. You get in ANY of them to go have fun. If it isn't a boat you work out of, or go to work in, it's no different than a hot rod. You use it for FUN.
