Sinus Infections Sinusitise
« on: February 28, 2008, 10:49:45 PM »
Anyone suffering from this?

Recent medical studies SEEM to indicate that this is not bacteria related?!?!

But is caused by mold, fungi, and such.

Claims are that antibiotics do little to releave the condition as they do little to the mold or fungus.

I find myself thinking this is PROBABLY true.

I think I've managed to get another such infection :cry

Also I've been given LOTS of antibiotics recently and ...........

And my teeth went south VERY quickly (toothaches and drainage and the xrays showed one tooth root actually reached into my sinus cavity)  And talk about upset stomach!

As I child I would suffer a terrible sinus condition twice a year.  It would keep me out of school and I was miserable.

My mother took me to Dr. after Dr. and each claimed something different.

One even said I was allergic to chicken.

I got treatments that literally made me SCREAM in pain!

Finally she took me to a Dr. that proscribed some nose drops.  Nothing else just some nose drops.

Was kinda a hassle, BUT took about 3 to 5 minutes twice a day.

I was cured in about a week!

Not sure what the stuff was but until about 1938 this stuff was used by the medical community............

and I SUSPECT that it was Colloidal Silver.

So thinking of trying some out BUT......................

WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!!!

If you even THINK about using this stuff.................

THIS STUFF can CREATE problems!

AND if used improperly can result in

YO.........

I got this one

http://www.healthandyoga.com/html/product/neti.html

AND regarding the problem getting worse!!!

I little note in SEVERAL of the reports regarding treatment these is a reference to the problem getting worse!

Seems the toxins that are released into your body by the dieing mold/fungi create a short period of time where you will feel worse!

I tried the netti pot and noticed a immediate increase in sinus drainage.

Stopped using the netti pot right away.

But been using a saltwater nasal spray and the same thing happens?

SOOOO not sure whats goin on here?

Gonna try the netti pot twice a day for next three days and see what happens, if it still does the same thing after 3 days gonna look into the silver.

About 8 years ago, I spent 10 days in the hospital because of it.  I'd been taking antibiotics for about a month, finally the infection got so bad and close to my brain it put pressure on my brain.  My GF was out of town and couldn't get a hold of me.  She called my mom and she found me in bed having a seizure.

After they got it under some control, they went in and opened up the passages, but still had to drill a hole in my forehead to drain one of the sinuses.  It also caused some problems with one of my optic nerves for a few months.

After i got out. they put a pic (sp?) line in my arm so I could inject intervenous antibiotics for the next two months.  Also had to take some meds that killed fungi, can't remember the name, but it was nasty.  If you drank any alcohol, it would make you very sick.

If you start getting some bad chills and and a high temperature get to the doc quick.

Doctor said the problem was scar tissue from past infections clogging passages up.

Eh gad!

I seem to get some level of sinusitis every year.

Running a humidifier this winter has made a huge difference for me.

If you read some of the treatments humidifier is listed as helpful.

Lets see..........

Hot liquids, hot shower on face, sinus sprays, sinus irrigation, plenty of liquid, hot or warm WET cloth on face/forehead.............

those are some I recall off the top of my head.

Think it depends on WHAT fungus/mold you're infected with and how long you've had the infection as to what level of treatment you need?

Be careful about going crazy Googling everything medical.  Its really easy to get all worked up over things you find out there.

A few months ago, I had a terrible sore throat.  My girlfriend, being a daycare teacher, is near sniffling nose-miners all day...so she's always bouncing from cold to cold.  Upon looking at the back of my throat, I was convinced I was on my way to strep.

I stopped in at the hospital's employee health center and had the Physician Assistant check it out.  She shrugged, said to drink lots of fluids and it should pass.  The next day, it felt worse and looked worse.  All through my shift, I was searching what strep throat symptoms were, etc etc.  By the end of my shift, I was convinced I had it, dammit!  Worse was the throat lozengers were doing little to help.  So again, I stopped in on my way home.  And there was the same PA who, again, checked me out.  She agreed it must hurt like heck and gave me a sampler of better lozengers.  Then she asked that I stop fussing over it and forbid me from Googling my symptoms like every other hosptial staffer does!  ;)

Nasty sinusitis sufferer here (3-4 times per year).
I was always perscribed antibiotics and they seemed to work up until this past year.
Now if I feel it coming on I do sinus irrigation (netti pot) twice a day and use 24hr Sudafed along with 24hr Claritin (as per MD's order) and it seems to be doing the trick.

You can make your own collidial silver just get a piece of 99.9999% silver. cut in half put 4 9v battires in series, two wires with aligator clips on each end. A jar with a lid cut 2 holes in the lid and put the 2 pieces of silver inside the jar connected through the lid and fill up with water. Connect the 2 ends of the wire to the batteries and whalla. you making collidial silver. the reaction is cool.

I had a bad case of it once and was about 24 hours from surgery to relieve the pressure. In my case it was an infection and the antibiotics as well as heavy doses of anti histamine did the trick. Now if I feel it coming on again I do what I can to dry them out.

About 20 months ago started with a sinus infection, 8 months later after trying various antibiotics I had surgery. After the surgery the Dr. informed me that with this condition I would need surgery to clear it on a fairly regular basis, anywhere from every 6 months to 6 years. It's been a year now since my surgery and everything is back to how I felt before the surgery so looks like it's going to be that time again.
Since I first got the infection I have been unable to smell or taste anything, apart from about a 3 week period during summer last year. I mention this to friends and they think it is funny but they don't think of other things e.g. if I am home alone and sleeping and a fire starts I would not smell the smoke. Also recently I bought a frozen meal and started to microwave it when my wife came in and told me to take it outside and throw it away, it was in date but had gone off but I couldn't smell it.
