Those models look cool, I haven't seen anything of that quality in Australia... I just make my own instead.

One thing about weathering, most folks go off the deep end overdoing it.
When I was in, the planes looked a little dirty sometimes real dirt magnet...the F4 Phantom>, but they would be washed and painted
regularly.

Some birds, like the Japanese ones stuck out on the islands for years,
could get pretty grimy. But most ground crew takes too much pride in their
birds to let it go as much as alot here seem to think.

Before I tow a plane at Morristown, I'm supposed to do a walk around and note
any damage to the bird before it moves. I swear there are some that come in

Since I don't seem to have the time for assembling plastic anymore, I've
switched to collecting diecast. Here is one that CorkyJr turned me onto
from Eagles International...a 1/48th scale Lee Archer bird Ina the Macon Belle.

Rino's a diecast fanatic. My first 38 came via Glenn. Conned me into 1/72nd P47s now to go with 15 Armour 1/48th scale 38s, including 2 80th Headhunter birds

Got two Eagles International 4th FG Mustang too and a couple of Corgi 1/72nd birds (Spit V and Hurri ) that I got for doing the profiles for them.

Diecast birds are addicting, and I'm an old model builder from way back.

My bedroom when I was 15 looked like the Battle of Britain...

Planes with holes in them, some with flames, some smokin, diving in a death spin minus a wing... all hanging from the ceiling with fishin line.

Had the ceiling painted blue with clouds and puff ack.

It was my room. Loved it.

I had an awesome MIG25 model I made when I was in primary school (grade school for you yanks:lol), it was so good I thought it could actually fly so I cut out holes in the tailpipes for a pair of rocket motors from the local hobby shop. Lets just say it was a spectacular lesson in the mechanics of weight and balance.
I also had an awesome TigerII model that I later motorised and R/C'ed.
There were many others, but those two really stand out.

When I was in the AF, I used to build alot of model aircraft. Most of
them were weird ones like the Saab J21 or MS 406s. I ended up with
72 models taped to the concrete ceiling of my dorm room. I guess it was
a bit unusual because they asked me if it was "ok" if Gen Creech inspected
the room. Since he had 4 stars and I had 2 stripes, I thought it would be
ok

About 6 months later, the pride of my fleet
decided to depart the ceiling and auger. This event got me fed up enough
to invite my roomie to a day out in the swamps of Georgia shooting
plastic models with .22 rifles. A good time was had, and it was better than
just tossing em in the trash
