Night Time Arena Post

HiTech, Pyro.... please move it or review it as I placed it in the wrong place, apparently. Since it was an "existing" feature of AH, I "assumed" it would go there.

http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=227946

I was totally blown away Christmas Eve when Santa came and visited the arena. It sparked new interest, albeit, not for everyone, but you know what....everyone didn't leave, either!!!.  :aok

Now, I am asking, begging if you must, that you create a New Arena for the Night Time. If I have to manually move every post over there to here to satisfy you, I'll do it. I am hoping that you will hit that link and look at the opposition, which there really isn't any "valid" opposition, since this would not effect any existing arenas. We/I didn't propose it to affect any current arenas. It would be a New Arena. (as pictured)

I also had a marketing idea too, that we could have Night OPs, Stealthy OPs, Navy Diver OPs. Normandy scenarios. Yes, I am a dreamer.

The purists say "we need more planes" etc., "WWII wasn't fought at night nor in inclement weather".  I say phoowie!  We have just enough now to start.

Couple of quick ideas:

Navy Diver OPS. (Later Navy Seals, to keep the "purist" comments to a minimum.)
CV(s), PT's, LVT2 and LVT4, maybe a goon too.  "Capture a Port"
It would be stealthy, even the purists can agree on "Navy Divers" and LVTs.
A mini scenario with a special map where the port guns are all manned, dar is inop or small in range.
Maybe even a shore battery or 3 whose lethality is turned way down.

LVTs come ashore, carrying troops, vehicle supplies, and base supplies.  Maybe it takes 5 (or more) base supplies to count as food and building materials for the base to become active....just thinking

Normandy Invasion: how dare me think it could be done....

We all know C47s and gliders took part ...at night... dropping troops behind enemy lines. (Wind settings enabled too) We know by history, many did not hit their landing zones and were lost.  Maybe design a terrain for it, special, where there are towns behind the lines, that again require say 30 troops, 20 loads of supplies to make it a vehicle base, and then the (GV) assault moves toward the channel.

Meanwhile, CVs carrying PT boats armed with rockets, as well as LVT's with troops, vehicle supplies, and base supplies storm Omaha, Juno, you get my drift. The scenario ends just after sunrise. We have the tools already in place for these. Maybe even a line of Shore batteries, Anti Aircraft guns, for when the fighters do sweep the shore, to kill shore batteries, and a few German planes to assist too. (like in the movies)

I see a marketing opportunity, for HTC, to grab a new piece of the pie, draw in more folks. That is why a "New Arena" would be ideal.
People would get accustomed to the concept and maybe even warm back up to it. They would also not be shocked by it, as they might be, if it was just thrust into being in a scenario or event.

As the post linked above states, No one will be forced to click on the New Arena. They will go there on there own. No one will hold a gun to their heads. It's their choice. I'd like to have the ability to choose it myself. I am not alone.

When all else fails, Bribes /Blood money will be paid! :O

Thank you for your support and dedication to this SIM and it's community.

I agree, on the night time arena at least.
Say try it out for a week or two, and see how things go.

For those who haven't really looked at that image, the Early, Mid, AvA, and Dueling arenas have little attendance. That is an actual on-line screenshot.
Would a night arena get much more? I think it was draw at least more that all those I just mentioned, combined. It's a total of 30 people.
Obviously, it was captured in a moment in time, so they do fluctuate all the time. (more or less)

I am just saying that it would get used, and probably more than those 3 or so together.

Thanks for saying you would try it.

Been where, and done what? Flew at night? AH1? AH2 or Christmas?

If you don't like the night, all the more reason to have a stand alone arena. So you don't have to..."been there done that".  We won't need you or your complaints and whines. And you won't be forced to join us.

I can't see any harm at all in having a nighttime/alternative climate arena to play in.

It's not like anything would be removed from any of the existing arenas.

Who knows.. maybe an entire sub-culture of nocturnalists may emerge from the game.  Maybe a coding workaround to gamma-manipulation will be discovered.

The point it, it would be a free-will choice and opportunity for those who wish to try something different.

Since when is choice a bad thing?

Guys, HTC's been working like crazy to bring us the game update we have, which I expect to be here in 2 weeks [:, so I say hold off on the requests for now, take your time, set up a good case like this guy did, I'm all for a night arena, and you presented it very professionally. I say HT, once you get your manpower back to what it was before you started busting into the update, why not give it a shot?  :salute
Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: You only
need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the
WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

This an old thread, as well as a duplicate. K-KEN pushed for this hard in the other thread and HT final came on and said it wasn't going to happen, so its a dead idea for now. I'm sure someone will bring it up again in a few months  :D

Yes, however it was a new idea on an old issue. It doesn't have "enough" ... something...to make it work.
Here is what HiTech said:

New arena just for night time, is not going to happen.

I do not consider it a "closed issue", only an idea that needs a little more tuning and substance, basically HT stated: "New Arena just for Night Time....".

Fugitive,
You are correct that someone will bring up a "Night" post, and usually the same thing..."Bring back the night".
At least I "tried" to take it in a different non-invasive way. I wish I had the magic <Easy Button> answer to make it happen! Still, I would like to see a survey on the site-that hits the MOTD when folks log in. I think the people who actually fly will tell a much different story, if presented an option that fits everyone.
Input here actually reaches less than 10% of the total players, or so I am told.

EDIT: Eskimo Joe Started this Thread so I linked this and the other posts in a reply for his "Night" post so folks would't bust his chops about using the "Search" button. :(
