Planes and ideas
« on: March 02, 2008, 05:53:46 PM »
New planes to consider adding:

P61
P80..yes some say they never saw combat, but they were deployed in Italy.  Otherwise the Gloster Meteor...at least we'd have 2 jets to choose from.
SB2C Helldiver

Other ideas:

-Make B25 capable of taking off from a carrier..still need to land on land, but we all know they can take off from a CV.
-Add "Aircraft factories" to each country.  If the factory is destroyed, it limits planes available to older models.  This would have a more significant affect on a country than the ammo or troop bases.
-Put an idicator on the gunner screen of tanks telling you what type of shell is loaded.
-Finally add the B29!!!!
-More realistically model the GForce effect on the body

The tanks sights tell ya what round is loaded. AP armor piercing. HE high explosive. It is at the top of the reticle. It also has a round count there.
Ya like the idea of aircraft factories as it would lead to a rethink as to how people handle strategic bombing. Bomb a country into using nothing but Stukas and P-40s.

There is no night in the game and other nightfighters were far, far, far more important.

Not only did the P-80 never see combat, it wasn't deployed anywhere in WWII.  Two prototypes were sent to Europe so our pilots seeing combat could give feedback.  That's it, two prototypes.  Not even regular production.  The only Allied jet that might have a place in the game is the Meteor Mk III.  The Meteor Mk III was in service at squadron strength on production aircraft and saw some limited, light combat.

We need later Japanese strike aircraft, not American ones.

And to summerize your three requests, look at the US planeset, then look at the Russian, Japanese and Italian sets.  Just maybe we should get some non-US toys?  Hmmm?

It was done once on specially modified B-25s.  You want to fly B-25s with broom handles for guns, no armor and reduced bombload?  No, this is not a good idea.

This would only make it even harder on the underdog country.  Not only are they outnumbered, but they can't even use the P-51D, Spitfire Mk XVI, La-7 or N1K2-J that the ENY limitations are supposed to give them and not the horde of enemies to help balance it.  Bad idea, or rather an idea you didn't think through.

This is already in the game.

Eventially it would be nice to see it (no nukes ever!), but it would take more effort on the part of the artists than doing four or five wholly new fighters and we are well stacked on potent Allied bombers.

What exactly do you mean?  This is very vague.

1) If we had night time, we would have night fighters. We don't.

2) Karnak covered the P-80 issue. Those were YP-80s and were a long way from service ready.

3) The SB2C was a slug, utterly despised in the fleet. If we had it, it would be used for its cannons more than anything else. I can think of 20 aircraft we should have before the "beast".

4) This has already been dismissed by HTC. You want to take off from a CV in a B-25, then land aboard first.

5) If they incorporated this, the first thing that would happen on any map is massive air attacks on the aircraft factories. That means, no one would be able to fly late war fighters. There are places for that now, the early and mid war arenas.

6) There is an indicator telling what is loaded.... Just above the sight reticle.

7) B-29 will not be added, at least in the foreseeable future, per HiTech.

No we all dont, the b25s that participated in the doolittle raid where heavily modified in terms of wieght(ie defensive armorment, and reduced carrying capacity.) Neither the c nor the H model we have in game could possible take of a cv in thier factory state.

okay,

I see your point on the plane selections...just ideas guys, keep your panites on.
I apologize, I hadn't seen the round indicator in the tanks..  my bad
As far a the G effect...I've had blackouts that seem like naps they're so long, I think the recovery time would be shorter.  that's all.
As far as the B29, that's been mentioned since I started on here..everything from 'it's in the works' to 'you need a million perk points (or some other magical number), so it's not a new idea.
It was a wishlist fellas, that's all

Look up the Vultee P-66 Vanguard.

Interesting read for a plane no one hardly talks about.

On Gee forces, in real life if you pulled too long too hard you would pass out.

Losing control of the plane, losing cognitive functions.

AH models this, pull too many gee's for too long and you lose control. You black out and stay blacked out. The plane stops responding, even autopilot won't help you.

Learn to pull into the "tunnel" then EASE the stick to hold it there.

Actually, I have spawned a loaded B-25 (probably both versions) at a CV in the offline mode, and successfully taken off/landed on the CV.  However, I don't think these 'special' B-25s would be a remotely worthwhile addition to the game.

LedClctr, the aircraft factory idea is good, but as Karnak said, it would make it even harder for a losing team.

However, I would LOVE to see the P-61, P-80 and most of all, the Gloster Meteor in the game.

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.
