How many times has it happened to you?
« on: March 03, 2008, 03:47:35 PM »
You're out numbered 3 to 1. The three enemy planes are higher than you and have speed, but you also have speed to spare. The three enemy planes are of different types: one that can keep up with you in a turn fight, one that can out run you, and one that can blow you out of the sky in 1 shot. Instead of having one or two of them come down to keep you slow and low they all decide to stay up high and BnZ all at once!

Had this happen to me today and thought it was too hilarious that one guy augers, the other over shoots and tries to turn hard and gets shot down, and that last BnZs 3 more times before he got half my wing, collided, and RTB'd with an oil and fuel leak. I did crash into a tree though.

So what have been your favorite/funniest outnumbered fights?

I probably have a hundred of them in the A-20 alone. This one kind of stands out and its already up on the net. Probably back in the 1st few months I started on the A-20. Ended up dragging 2 spits and a pony away and got 2 of the 3 before an enemy 110 got to me before the cavalry got over the hill....fun time and one of the early moments that sold me on the A-20.

My n1k vs. 3 spits 1 hurri, and a temp. It was pretty fun. I had the E advantage on the spits and the hurri, the temp dove on meh and I hoed him. The other 4 tried to gangbang and i took out the worst threat, the Hurri, then the spixteen, then the 2 spit 9s.

This is back when we had night.
It happened over the sea, so visibility and altitude perception was pretty bad.  I was fighting in a C202 and somehow the only survivor of a classic MA furball.. I was trying to fight myself out of a 3:1, when more and more of em showed up.
Somehow, I went from 2 kills to 9 in a few minutes as at least half of them augered around me, one by one.  Probably 4-5 of them were AKs.. I dunno if they might remember that.

2 spits, one myself and 6 cons: Nik, Jug, Zeke and 3 spits, low and fast. I had killed three and the other person got shot down and took three with him.

I was in a spixteen (back when I was a noob) and a C.2, Pony and spit5 came flying to me all with advantage. killed 2 of them and the pony picked me at the last second.

Probably winning against odds of 20 to 1 in a dora when i caught a basesneak in action, i was about 2k above the fighters(i was only knit there), and by flying very aggresivly and transfering speed to alt i managed to bag 12 before i rtbed for ammo.  Good times.

And probably one im most proud of is winning a 6 on 1 in a low mossie made 1 109 auger, overshot and killed 2 spits within 15 seconds killed a pony on the overshoot about 1 minute later and then came a nik and 190 both overshoot and niki died while 190 limped home with a missing wingtip.

I was in a Seafire from a cv, and there was probably 5 guys from the field. 1 was a nik another 51 and the rest were spits. They had the E advatage, but i managed to take down the 51 and 2 spits but then they got me in the wing. Spits always lose their wings  :noid

I was on the deck and got bounced by 2 Spits 2 N1Ks and a 51.  51 was going too fast an augered.  One of the N1Ks plowed into the trees.  Got the other 3 and ended up going home single engine and credit for all 5.

Too many guys ram the throttle forward when they nose down and plow right in :)

I get chased from an enemy base over water by 5 110s and 2 LA7s and 1 other I can't remember model. I was in an FM2 so of course they caught me. at about 2k over the water we started dancing. some of them augered as I shot down 2 of the 110s in short order. I got a lucky deflection shot on 1 LA as the rest made pass after pass at me. I had  friends racing to help as I shot down the last LA7 and realized there were no more badguys. Landed 8 scalps and never took a hit. Had to go lay down afterwards.

Once, just once, I managed something similar.

I fly over to V10 on an island (you know the one) from A12 in a KI84. When I get there I run into 3 enemies, F6F, 109 and I am unsure of the third.  They jump all over me but fail to get me for some reason (I was prolly a little warpy, thats the only thing I can think of, but then I dont recall any of thier names either, newbs maybe).

I dip and dodge, run some tight turns, climbing and swooping and here comes the goon!  I fly right through the middle of them and kill the C47 right before it drops, turn and fire, turn and fire.  Got all three.  Musta been some kinda miracle.  Wish I would have filmed it (I almost never do)

But, a sortie like that will keep ya coming back for months.

I was in an LA-7, I was flying back from a mission when I came across a mission that was heading to the base I was going to.  2 P-57's dived on me, and I dived down, leaving the rest of the enemy mission (bombers) behind.  The two 47's hung with me until I ran out of fuel.  One ran straight through me and sustained a pilot injury and prop failure, crashed and died.  The other ran into me and ripped half of my left wing off.  The 47 made another pass and tried to shoot me, but I shot him down, not without taking damage to my engine, which failed on me.  I glided back to the runway and died on landing.

It was on the Baltic map in that huge furball area between 41 and 45.  I upped 45 in my 38L with 100 gas.  I find myself that I am entering a hoard of 10 by myself and with no help of running away with myself being at 5k and at least 4 of the 10 3k higher than me.  The 10 consisted of 3 la7s, 2 niks, a yak, a 51, a ki84, a hurri, and a 38.

Taking some pings I somehow managed to win that 10v1.  By the time it was over, I was missing a rudder, an aileron, an engine leaking oil, and missing 1 mg.

I started running home for 45 and I hear friendlies asking where they all went and Im still trying to fathom what I just accomplished.  Had several on 200 and PM's calling me a cheat and saying how that wasn't possible.
