One of the first 'big people" books I read was the Big E by Admiral Staffard. in the 7th grade  It was an account of the Enterprise in World War 2.  It is THE reason I found my love for WW2 airpower and history.  Absolutely fantastic history. Butch O'Hare, McCluskey, Martin...the names are endless.

What a history.  I can not wait!

I hope that they put Battle 360 on itunes so I can buy it for cheap, since I don't have access to satellite tv this week.

Rumor is that this is the last season of dogfights (at least that's what I read on the history channel forums), so enjoy the new episodes!  It's too bad, really. I love that series.  That's the kind of show that the history channel should have, not "Ice Road Truckers" or "Life after Humans," in my opinion.

It is called the History channel for a reason. ;)

If they cancel Dogfights, but keep running Monster Quest and UFO Hunters, we're gonna have a problem.

I'm still trying to figure out who decided History Channel has to compete with the Sci-Fi Channel all of a sudden...

Sci-Fi has its problems... I'm no fan of Ghost Hunters (aka farce hunters?) or its spinoffs, or any of those destination truth shows....

However, they helped pioneer the way for original cable TV programming, and single handedly reinvented the Friday Night Lineup (my family's name for it) way back with shows like First Wave, Invisible Man, Farscape, and today I wouldn't be happy without Battlestar Gallactica, Dr. Who, Eureka, Stargate Atlantis, The Dresden Files, which are all still in production. There are probably more I've overlooked.

For the original TV programming alone, Sci-Fi has redeemed itself.

THC and TLC have.... well... there's mythbusters.... and... um.... HOW many shows do they have about ships fishing now? Wait, scratch that question. Man vs. Wild has some great survival tips if you accept it's scripted.

So overall THC/TLC has a lot to make up for lately :D

EDIT: P.S. Who saw the 360 show? Any good?

Thought it was so-so.

They had lots of fun with 360 degree rotations around CG objects, but didn't move the story very well. Not much action -- get the feeling they plan to string out the Enterprise's combat history over a couple seasons.

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but I don't plan to record more episodes.

Not just a few episodes, I believe one of the commercials made it sound like the entire SEASON was just this one ship. That means "filler"....

It says right on the sight that the series is about the Enterprise in WWII, so I'm kind of surprised everyone is upset at the slow pace and the short span of the first episode- if they are going to stretch it for a season or two, they're gonna have to drag it out.

What bugs me is that some of the footage is so obviously recycled from Dogfights- the SBDs being attacked by Zeroes at Pearl was just recycled from the SBD-vs-Zero Dogfights that was so popular. They could have at least reskinned the aircraft to give them the right markings for the date.

Oh well, I enjoyed it anyway. Beats a wolverine down your pants.

Luckily I recorded it on my DVR, so I didn't miss anything just to watch it. I'm sure there was better stuff on TV that night, and I'm sure there was worse stuff. It was just mediocre for me. I will record the rest of the season and watch it as I can. Hopefully it will get better.

I recorded it in HD... I'll be editing at season end to make a better show of it. From the looks of it... once you edit out the repeated areas and fluff, there should be a good 2 hour show.

Well the graphics is probably most of the budget , but all in all its decent and it sure beats watching the other garbage thats out there for sure .
and with WW2 veterans dieing at an alarming rate getting interviews is not easy to do , we live in a time when personal interviews are going out and book/ letter/archive info is what you get presented to you . As for myself in person accounts are cool , what they have seen is worth hearing to me anyways , and History channel does the best they can for the money I'm sure ( politics in studios prevail) so its all good by me.:aok
Don't be afraid to put it out there , if it gets cut off it'll grow back
On your mark , Get set , go away !
