mode question
« on: March 06, 2008, 11:15:32 AM »
I want to set mode three for bombers only. Problem is I want to set rudder deadband and damoening high but it will not save that setting. Always goes back to setting I have for mode 1. Can that be fixed. Also can I change the name of mode 3 to bombers.

thanks in advance

Actually I've been doing some testing in this area.

No, can't rename it as far as I know.

Yes you should be able to have quite different stick scaling/deadband settings.

The answer is no. Why you would want to do that is the question. Deadband and damping adjustments can overcome problems with faulty or poorly made/designed controllers. You are asking to do something that is not customary, so I don't think it is something that needs to be fixed. You can change controller response curves for each axis in each mode.

the reason I want to do this is that when I am in the gunning position in a bomber if I don't have deadband and dampening set high the planes moves too much when I train the gun on the enemy therefore throwing my aim off. read ghosth's, post he seems to think my setting should stay as set in mode 3.

Deadband and damping cannot be set differently for different modes.

While in a gunner position, your plane will only turn if you use rudder. You are twisting your joystick while tracking and firing. Left, right, up and down... those are the only stick inputs you should be using. Stop twisting! ;)

thats why I want to set the deadband/dampening. If I don't my stick is too sensitive and no matter how carefull I am it moves too much.

So set your rudder deadband up a bit in mode 1.

You will no longer "accidentally" add in rudder when your just turning.
