Looking to Start Training Pilots For Realistic Bombing...
« on: March 06, 2008, 05:52:06 PM »
As most of you all may know, I'm one of the primary massive bombing raid mission planners on AH2. I'm looking to start training/teaching/execute Pilots and missions in the form of Realistic bombing. I've been experimenting with running a couple sorties with some countrymen in single flight bombers, and i must save I'm very pleased with the results.

There's alot of positive sides to flying a single bomber than flying with a formation, such as:

  • Better Accuracy overall when shooting from the guns ( will take some flak for this ).
  • Free Flight ( Meaning you can fly however you choose, without the worries of losing your drones.
  • Teaches Formation Flying, Teamwork, Communication, and heightens your SA ( Situational Awareness ).
  • Looks Awesome :). Nothing looks cooler and more respectful than coordinated bombers flighting in a TIGHT combat box.  :aok

Now theres also some negative sides to flying a single ship bomber, such as:

  • Lack the extra firepower from the extra two ships you receive when flying formations enabled.
  • Decreased Survivability rate, since you only have one ship, you should treat it, fly it like it's your last ( since it really IS lol.
  • Lacks the extra ordnance you would normally receive from the extra two ships.

Overall it's a great experience to fly a single ship with other pilots that know there stuff! Now i know I'll take alot of flak for people saying flying a single ship is pointless, not fun. I Assure you, it's more challenging/intense/fun than you would actually think. Here is a diagram on the basic type of bomber formation flight:

Information Below:

The reason I'm doing this is purely for the fun of it, i try to keep things as realistic as possible when i run my bomber raids, and i have alot of pilots that can let you know first hand that it's always a blast when i run a mission, always intense, and everyone has fun when i run them  :).  If your interested, please drop me a PM on forums, My squad is rook based as well.

Also, just a quick note so everyone will be informed on the type of raid i run when i use "realistic":

  • Pilots that wish to join will be briefed on mission target, field, ordnance, etc.
  • Bombers will use single ship, meaning formations are to be disabled. ( Majority of the time, when i run HQ raids, or massive raids, I'll most likely have drones Enabled. ).
  • Bombers will use 100% Fuel.
  • Bombers will Spawn from the hanger ( when formations are disabled ) and manually hold on the corresponding runway for roll call.
  • Bombers will Return to the original Launch Base ( Emergency landings will Vary ).

i aint too fond on the idea of single buffs.

you can have 4 guys running with 12 buffs per box, and have them seperated from the other formations like you do already and it works well. Extra ORD is a must, and going anywhere near 163 bases hurts you badly :(

the trick is to make sure everyone knows how to use chin turret gun, and rudder to turn smoothly within formation, and also so they dont loose there drones.

Have to say it again though, Your missions are a blast. Both within, and fighting against. Its a pleasure to see it in MA.

Not that I would participate, but I think it's a good and interesting idea. 1 of the main reasons for multiple buffs was a problem getting enough people together to do any real damage with them. Maybe, with all the growth, multiple buffs could be done away with or at least perked. It'll be interesting to see how it goes.

Is it just me or does this concern anyone???   :huh

Oh my bomber was deemed too small. So I won't be joining in the little raindeer games.

I do think this is a good idea that will help prepare folks for CT when it finally does release.

MjTalon, I won't be able to join these (probably), but perhaps you could post a few short tips every now and then for ineffective buff pilots like me work with.

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

:rofl nice one Shuffle!  :aok Don't worry sir, we could always use those light bombers for escorts :) They have pretty good noses with a deadly arsenal  :).

Will do as well yossarian, no problem at all sir  :aok

For overlag, sir i ALWAYS run formations enabled when going into a homeland, I will only use single formations for formation training/gunnery training/communications and SA training to small targets such as bases, factories.  And thanks for the compliment sir, you know i do enjoy having those beautiful bomber boxes up high .
