(He shoulda used the alien story )
Perhaps you are too young to remember the 70's and 80's, but Satan was in the news a lot back then. Starting in the 70's, more and more preachers began to talk up Satan's power over people on earth, leading to fears of Satanic conspiracies being made against religious folks, just as this nutcase has claimed in his crazy story.
The momentum of this fear of Satan began to build and build, until by the beginning of the 80's, reports of Satanic Ritualistic Abuse of Children were now also being widely reported. And during the 80's, these reports snowballed, and eventually numerous day care facilities and churches across the USA were being accused of being homes to secret Satanic cults that abused children as part of their Devil worship.
It was a time in America not unlike the infamous Salem Witch Hunt of 1692. Numerous innocent people were prosecuted. While I was living in Nevada in the 80's, there was a small mother and son operated daycare in the state capital, which was accused of being a home for a monstrous Satanic cult. The DA's office had a wacko female psychiatrist examine all of the children in private, with no other witnesses, or any sort of video, audio, or even transcription kept of everything that was said. But all of the pre-schooler children eventually accused the mother and son of Satanic Abuse in their sessions with the psychiatrist. The authorities even got big backhoes to dig up the grounds of the daycare property, to search for the bodies of all the dead babies that the children had described as being murdered in the rituals. This was despite the fact that there were absolutely no reports of any missing infant children anywhere in the region. Needless to say, no physical evidence was ever found to back up any of the claims.
The Felix family was charged with over 100 felonies, and ended up being convicted of 4 of the charges, and were sentenced to life in prison. However, on appeal, the Nevada State Supreme Court threw out their conviction, stating that the judge had violated their constitutional right to a fair trial, by not allowing evidence pointing to their innocence to be heard in court.
By then, many people were now talking out against the child abuse hysteria that was sweeping the nation. The techniques used by the psychiatrist to extract the accusations of the pre-school children was also under great scrutiny. The DA's office decided to not put them on trial again, and they finally walked free. It was the most expensive trial in Nevada history at that time. The psychiatrist alone was paid $110,000 by the court to examine the children.
Public TV's Frontline investigative program did a lot back then to expose the witch hunt hysteria for what it was. You can still find information about their investigations online:

But if Hillary or Obama get elected? Could Satan perhaps make a comeback??
