B-17, B-24 & B-25 On Display in DFW!
« on: March 08, 2008, 10:59:08 PM »

Sweeeeeet! A trio of vintage warbirds is at Alliance Airport until Monday. A B-17, a B-24 and a B-25 are on display. For $10 you can explore the interior. For $425 you can go for a ride!
Sounds like an O'Club fieldtrip to me!! :rock

The bombers will fly to Denton on monday and be displayed there until wednesday, then they fly to Love Field and will be there until March 23rd.

Hopefully the one at Love Field won't be crowded like it was last time.

Last time I went some guy nearly fainted after he got off the plane.

For the past few summers, we've had a B-17 visit for a week and offer rides.  (Always the week BEFORE payday!)

For $400, they'd take folks up for a 20 minute jaunt.

Hoping they come up this year!

I just did some research on the planes. The B-24 is the last remaining airworthy craft. It was built in Ft Worth in August 1944 at Consolidated Aircraft, now Lockheed/Martin. This plane has come full circle. Full history of the aircraft is here: http://collingsfoundation.org/tour_b-24j_hist.htm

I'm going Monday. Anyone want to join me?

It was real nice they  had the B-25 but you could not go through it but it was very nice. The B-24 was very cool to. We had to duck down and go through the tail then we had to get out at the bomb bay doors <-- the older ones had a hard time. The B-17 was the best we went in and the only place we could not go was the cockpit of the bird but that was all of them. I got allot of good pics we stayed long enough to see the 25 start taxi and liftoff talk about a LOUD BIRD :O the 17 then started and taxied out it wasn't that loud but it had allot of rumble on takeoff. The 24 started it props but then shut down for sum reason and we had to leave before it lifted off. All in all it was great. I will upload all of the pics when I get the chance.

the B17 and B25 were here last month. A co-worker and I did the walk through at lunch one day.
the planes are n fantastic condition. the wife saw the B17 fly over her place of work very low as it was coming in to land, the airfield is less than 1/4 mile away.
