Frode: "Saxman, I believe that the Beaufighter was in fact, developed from the Blenheim, not the Beaufort. As a matter of fact, the Blenheim's played a large part in RAF stike roles in '39-'42, serving in france, the BoB, and in the MTO.
I was suprised the Blenheim wasn't on those lists."
5,500 Blenheims were built in GB and Canada but were not exceptional combat planes. Despite several variants they were eventually replaced by Bostons and Mosquitoes. " By the end of 1940 it had become obsolete in Europe having been replaced largely by Douglas Bostons and later by de Havilland Mosquitoes. However, the Blenheim still served as a frontline bomber in North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Far East well into 1943."
They could still be of use in AH.
Beaufighter was like that of the Beaufort in the empennage, the wingsm and the rear part of the fuselage. Forward part of the plane was completely different.
