Mozilla Firefox - won't start
« on: March 08, 2008, 08:24:46 AM »
I recently installed Firefox on a new computer. No problems for a couple of weeks. Now it won't boot to where it appears on the monitor. If I promt Firefox to oepn, it does show up in the Task Manager processes window...but fails to activate as a usable browser. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance  :aok

Set 1 is to close it in the task manager window. delete your desktop shortcut and make a new one,( the current one might be fubar) If this doesn't work either go to the FF support forums or just do like I do, move the bookmarks to the desktop, uninstall and reinstall FF, then move the bookmarks back to their folder and delete the new bookmarks made when you reinstalled FF.

Oh an before any body calls me stupid for the desktop icon thing, been there done that, it works.

speaking of task manager, it's possible firefox didn't shut down properly and there's still a process running.  If you see firefox in task manager, kill it.  Rebooting would fix that as well.  Otherwise, you may have a corrupt firefox profile.  Use the Mozilla Firefox(Safe Mode) link in your start menu, if it starts with that you're best bet is to create a new firefox profile, then migrate your bookmarks, passwords, etc...
