In the side seems to work the best. You can see the sprites i  think thats what there call when the bullet hits the tank.

The good hits are bigger than the bad ones... I normally go for the turret smak it dead center and knock it out

It's no different in a manned ack as it is in a tank or other vehicle and that depends on the tank you're shooting at.  As a general rule of thumb try to hit in this order and see what works:

Rear (engine area)
Turret (between the turret and hull generally works)
Tracks (That won't kill him but might drop his cannon to your side at least temporarily denying him a shot and allowing you to finish him off)
The side in the track wheels
Straight on into the drivers window opening
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

That last one caught my eye. Can GV drivers also get a PW?

if you find a tank close enough to a field gun to aim at a certen part or area the spot between the turret and hull is the best spot.   when a tank is further out just keep on hitting it.
tigers can be the hardest to bring down so i try not to mess with them, one time i probly spent 2 min bouncing rounds off the side of one and i gave up to fire on a panzer and downed that one with 15 rounds.

panzers take around 25 hits at long range give or take.

M-4's seem to be an easy target,  i had one sitting within 100 feet when i jumped into the gun and fired 5-6 rounds and it blew up (same way with the M-8's too)

this should give you an idea on what to expect.

No.

Yes, you can get a "pilot wound" in a GV -- at least in an M8.  I took some hits from aircraft (or an ack gun) at a GV base.  I was fine while in the Main Gun postion.  But after we captured the base, I went to the Driver's postition to move to some concreat to end flight and passed out.  Passed out two or three times and then died.

That would have been a nice film for bug report forum, because that's what it was.

I've been on thousands of GV sorties and have never had a pilot wound.

In six years as an LTAR, never suffered a pilot wound.  No pilot wounds as a GV'er.  However, if you target the driver's opening.......instant kill.  Not easy mind you, but can be done.

Field gun v/s armor.........depends on the armor.  T-34 deflecs the shots due to sloped sides.......aim for tracks, then aim for sweet spot.  Tiger the same.  All others open game.

Pilot wound in a GV............ :huh
