For real men
« on: March 11, 2008, 02:38:35 AM »
who are not afraid to admit that they enjoy the finer things in life even if you get called a metrosexual ;) :D

What is your favorite coffe besides black?

I usually enjoy a caffe latte or a cappuccino in the mornings or the occational espresso if I really need to get the lids open.

Is this thread about coffee or about the term metrosexual?  This may require some clarification.  Fas as I'm concerned, metrosexual is just another pc changing of the language designed to cause confusion.  What used to be considered class and cultural sophistication now has to have some sexual connotation to it.  I see no reason why real men can't have these things nowadays.

About coffee: Normally drink coffee black when I drink it at all.  Of late only partake when I'm in Home Depot and avail myself of the free coffee.

However... I have a little copper espresso machine that makes about six half-cups, or demitasses.  Been a while since I used it.  Espresso is a good drink.

The best coffee drink I've ever had was something called a blanco y negro, in Madrid, Spain.

This is pretty interesting and something I didn't know until I looked it up on the internet.  Blanco y negro is cold black coffee and a scoop of either horchata (authentic) or vanilla (also popular) ice cream.  In Spain, it usually refers to orxata de xufes (horchata de chufas), made from tigernuts, water and sugar.

Tigernuts are chufas.  The tubers are about the size of peanuts and are abundantly produced. Eaten raw they make a very acceptable snack and have a flavor and texture reminiscent of coconut. They can be rehydrated by soaking before consumption and even softened further by boiling.

Tiger nuts are rich in oil which can be extracted for culinary and industrial use. "Horchata" is vegetable milk made with Tiger nut juice which is very popular in Spain.

So I might could get some horchata at the international food market and mix that with vanilla ice cream and cold espresso to make my own blanco y negro.  Think I'll try that.

Sounds like a drink id like to try Les. The ingredients should not be impossible to find.

I have an espresso machine, but ive found that simple is sometimes best. I have a little espresso pot and put in on the plate beside a pot that i warm my milk in. I use a little thingy on batteries that stirrs and foams the milk and when its all mixed together it makes an excellent latte that requires less cleaning than the espresso machine.

As i said i love an espresso if im really groggy in the morning. Add some brown sugar and maybe a squirt of cream from a box and you can really jumpstart the system. Even faster to make than a regual pot of coffe too, so in a hurry it does the trick :aok

-edit- The thread is both about coffe and metrosexual(ism) and to what extent its beeing used to describe basicly anything from bothering to clean yourself enough to not smell like a dog to the gay makeovers and everything in between. It seems that some people thinks that unless you have one tooth and live in a cave you are a metrosexual and i find that rather amusing  ;)

wearing makeup just means your cultured?

Just liking girl coffee does not make you a metrosexual..  not unless you like boats too.

You can use skimmed milk and diet sweetner. I use real brown sugar but the milk is skimmed. The trick is to get the espresso and warmed/steamed milk ratio right and have the correct temperature on it. Abit of trial and error is usually needed until you find the taste that is just right.

IRISH COFFE, none less :D

Or what (we) fishermen call "net-koffee", then you use strong boiling coffee + teaspoon of any sugar + 1 dl of ANY liquor :D
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

When it heats up out here in the desert, I skip the hot black and hit the road with an iced caramel latte with an extra shot of espresso.  Cold, sweet and a good kick.

My cave walls have paintings, I cut gemstones for a hobby and my knuckles have calluses. I scratch, burp and belch any time I get a chance and enjoy a strong complex Merlot. I think Motzart was a early metrosexual posterboy of bad taste and narcisism. But think Brhams organ solos listened to from the front pews in a large church must be what a fart in heavan sounds like on a clear day. I like double roasted Arabica beans, and Jamacan Blue Mountain when I can afford it. I heat half and half then froth it by hand before adding to my coffee flavored with 3 spoons of raw sugar.

Metrosexuals are boys that have been poisened by drinking unfiltered tap water here in the west. There are reports coming out that our water supplies have been polluted by estrogen and harmone replacement drugs used by women for birth control and menopause. They don't get removed by our treatment plants. Studies are showing that male fish are turning female and female birds are starting to sing male song patterns. Living through better chemicals is taking it's toll. Our boys are growing up girls............ :O

Are you trying to say that  Folgers instant coffee crystals, does not produce a world-class cup of Joe?  :)
