J is the best IMO. 50% fuel is usually what I always take unless I'm going to a far fight (50% = 18 mins). Just keep it at a decent speed, it is a turn fighter (just not spitfire style  :D), and don't be afraid to take some hits it can take it.

Still learning this plane myself and its one of the more fun planes to fly!

From what I heard, the P-38 is a plane that can fly.  :rofl
The other thing i learned is that if its not landing or landed, it and the ground doesnt get along.

uberslet, if you haven't already seen it, here's a great guide from Donkey on the P-38:

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

I think there are nearly 50 P-38 films in the 479th Raiders Library if you'd like to see what it is capable of in experienced hands.

Yes the P-38 can take a beating. I was able to land it (ok crash land it  :D) at a nearby vbase without a right vert stab, right rudder, right engine, and no left aileron! Had to cut throttle to get out of the spin I was in on that run!

a p 38 is tough in the inside wing and the out side is less tough it also is the easyest plane to shoot someone down at 1.5k

Most of the films are compressed in a .zip file to save file space.  Programs like WinZip or WinRar opens zip files, and you can just double click the film from there.
