Bring two goons, drop troops and bail to defend the map room. A well planned base capture normally results in a base capture. :rock

Its a great tactic in no way is it cheap. I always see Chute when I fly over them upside down. When your a chute you have a .45 for a reason. We found a good way to use them when the VH is down and we are getting vulched. Theres a very easy way to stop this they are called bombs.

I know it's a game, but it's intended to be a somewhat historical and realistic sim, especially in AvA.  Having a pilot bail out and shoot 10+ paratroopers walking in a line with a 45 does not fit with this theme.  It's a slipery slope.

I think it's big time cheap because a person with a 45 should not be able to swiftly kill 10 troops with a 45.  What would the troops be using?  M1 rifles? It's bs and an exploit in my opinion. Someone found a way to take out "80" troops (earlier post) using a 45?? It might not be a "cheat" but it's dishonest and exploiting a weakness in the game.  A C47 moving at 150 knots is dropping 10 troops at 1 second intervals followed by another doing the same.  One person on foot with a 45 cannot cover that distance to kill them all. And of course none of them shoot back??  I own a 1911 .45 and know that it's total bs.  If you find a hole in the game you're supposed to report it so it gets fixed, not exploit it. Anyone using exploits have no life and must suck at the game, otherwise wouldn't use them.  My question is how many other unreported "secrets" are out there?

I do not believe it is an exploit.  It is part of the game, hence it is a fair and viable tactic.  Lobbying to have it removed from the game is the only option.  To develop "house rules" to prevent it is just silly.  As it goes for every other aspect of this game from vulching to picking, etc..

Play the game as you see it to be, seek out the fun and bypass the grief.  It is worth it, imo.

I dont know how I feel about it.  I know if your flying and a guys is running on the ground you will see the Icon but its choppy like if a gvs in thick tree cover you know.  But I think if somebody wants to do that its cool with me of course if he kills all the troops ill make a virtual voodoo doll and jab pins in it. :furious

Please show me how shooting troops with a .45 when they come to a map room is cheating or exploiting something? After years of people asking HTC made the gun work. If you dont like it then shot him with your plane. The gun only carrys 21 or 22 rounds I cant remember whitch it is. Please show me where someone said they took out 80 troops with a single chute.

No its not cheap. You can see thier icons and one 1k bomb on the map romm will kill all the chutes around it. Another way to find out if theres a chut is if you get a kill for no reason. That when you zoom in to the hanger and see the little guy walking around.

How about that? Do you always fly upside down? I can see chutes real easy with out the icon, but yes I can see the icon while upside down just like when planes are on the runway or NOE.

Only time I see a chute is when I'm in one or somebody has just bailed out... at altitude.  The only thing we (flatiron and I) 'see' when a pilot hits the ground is this itty bitty black speck about 1 pixel wide, that is easily mistaken for bad art glitch.  No chute mushroomed or roman candled... just this itty-bitty-teeny speck.

FWIW - In a fight over a base, I am not about to take a scenic tour inverted just to find some lamer with 16 rounds in his 45, and I'm not carpet bombing his lameness just to have him pop up again as this speck.

But that's just me.

Hmmmm .... if it's ok and one's conscience is clear then it doesn't require a wall of text or a list of reasons to defend. If it's not ok then neither can.

However, I've got the perfect litmus test on what is and isn't legal or fair in our game of war:

Anything not part of the design, part of the program or discovered then reported to HTC and deemed worthy of modification or removal by the designer is unacceptable. Everything else is "acceptable."

That having been said, the failure or success of the AvA, overall, has always hinged on the amount of fun universally had by the players in it. BUT .... not one of us can take charge of someone else's fun or lack of in this game. Telling another player how they should or shouldn't play this game (within it's allowable limitations) is a seed that'll never take root, imo. Showing a player how much better the game can be for everyone involved while having fun doing it ... well ... that's something special (and it may not be in all of us .... certainly not always, even then).

Hell, I like banding with others (and to be honest, need to in a game that hosts hundreds of players who already have) ... but ... when it comes down to it, we're all individually responsible for the amount of fun we have in the game. Personally, the appeal of beating the opposition when they've done their dead level best to defeat me and my fellow players cannot be denied. Perhaps it would get boring, after awhile, without an honest defeat (meaning they bested me and my fellow pilots when we gave it our all) to make a later victory retain it's sweetness ... but I can't see asking anyone to use a handicap (in this game) to level the playing field so I can occasionally pretend I earned victory. Nor should I ask anyone to play using the toys they don't prefer (whether it be a model of plane, a gv, a gun, a ship or even a pilot with a pistol). I know I've done so in the past. I intend the resist that urge from now on.

And I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't consider it something I, myself, needed hearing from time to time. Especially with the shame I feel lately letting frustrations that aren't of my opponent's doing (system, hardware and software issues) come out in the game as blame on them for being the hardest opponent they can be (whether publically said on 200 or "privately" said on country channel). I want opponents that aren't the player equivalent of offline drones and auto gunners at fields.

I'm too old to let my own immaturity get in the way of my or anyone else's fun. If I want a stroke or heart attack I'll get it from eating fatty foods and getting drunk ... not playing Aces High of all things.

So let slip the dogs of war and have at it, I say. A strong Axis opponent is the best tool in eventually creating a strong Allied commitment and a no holds barred type of game I can eventually sink my teeth into. Cawd help the woman I'm involved with when I come off an AH high that night! Once I find one that'll put up with AH addiction, that is.

Seems this post started one direction and ended in an entirely different destination. I suppose that represents a sort of catharsis. I may survive this crisis and manage to keep enjoying this game I missed for so long afterall. :D
