no chute icon
« on: March 12, 2008, 04:15:14 AM »
in AVA for sure when a enemy pilot bails in a effort to be on ground to kill troops I am not seeing a red icon, just a little speck running across the tarmac. Should the icon be seen in this case?

Also in AVA is it correct for a fighter to be able to take off from a destroyed vehicle hanger on a vehicle base.

Once on ground, bailed enemy pilots never have any icon. That's just the way it is, no bug (Just like enemy vehicles do not have an icon either). No bug.

You should inquire about AvA settings on AvA forum first. What exactly is enabled by arena settings or by map default is within the responsibility of AvA staff / map designers.
And as long as not all hangars of a kind are not down at the same time, you can still roll GV's / planes from their respective spawn hangars of course.

Yes, icon is the right word.

But I should have been more precise: "Just as enemy GV's have no icons when you are in a GV yourself". But the still holds true neverthenless: Bailed enemy pilots on the ground never had any icon.

I haven't seen a chute in probably a year. The pilot bails and I either see an open-chute trooper pop up at ground level as they see themselves floating down or that tiny speck.

have not done much  GVing. did not know enemy gv  icon did not show up if I was in gv also. Good to know that  thanks/

but why does chute icon not show up if I am in the air and downed pilot is on the ground. GV icons show up when I am in air. The issue is if a p;ayer can prevent a base capture he should be able to be seen like anyother player in my opinion.

Because it just is this way. It's no bug. It' set that way intentional. A man is very tiny when compared to a 30ton tank. Leaves no track, doesn't create a dust cloud when moving, does not have a roaring 300hp engine.

ok thanks for the input,  but usually in real life a single man cannot take out 30 troops and prevent a base capture with a 45 pistol

If thats the issue then I offer a simple solution. Strafe the map room with your guns before dropping troops. If in C47, well then you can always get a friendly to do it. :P

Neither can he in game. The pistol has limited ammo, you know.
