at 300mph - I'd say a plane hitting a 6" column of water wouldn't be any different than a plane hitting a 6" pillar of concrete.

6 inch column of water stop a plane???  Maybe a paper plane 
I recently lent some of my books out or I'd share pictures of P-47s and
P-38s that have hit telephone poles and masts and have rtb safely.

Since the splashes we have now are several feet tall, I'm not sure what
the point is.

You can already kill low flying fast movers with rockets, especially over wooded areas, take a pony or p38 set salvo 1, aim above the enemy by 3-4 plane lengths, and watch.....

We used to do this back in H2H, loads of fun. We would go plane racing on a racing track. You could not exceed 200 feet altitude, and you had a tight track to fly through. Also at times you had rows of hangars to fly through, not over. At those dip-points to fly through the hangars people would fly right behind you and blow a rocket up your rear. Loads of fun!

so the sprayers and prayers just have to shoot at the water? makes it a tad easier to shoot players down if you dont have to aim for them.
