The 30 Second Club -- March 2008

Okay, we are 13 days into the month, but let's start this anyways. If we get less entries, so be it. Next month we'll start anew. Let's get at least a few of these done to pique interest, shall we!

The rules: Edit a video/film using AH footage, music, effects, whatever you want. It must be 30 seconds. This includes any fades to and from black.

You need to host the video so it can be viewed online or downloaded for viewing. No .AHF files. The video should be in a common format (avi, wmv, mpg, etc) so that most folks can view it without problems.

There are no rules on what kind of footage you can include, but note that 30 seconds is ample time to create a short story (ask anybody who's taken a 3D animation class!), and you are encouraged to come up with a story to tell in this time. Simply showing 30 seconds of a dogfight will work, but it might not be very entertaining.

Deadline is midnight the last day of the month.

Post your discussions and submissions in this thread!

P.S. I intend on entering this month. I need to learn how to use my editing software better and this is perfect for doing that!

I already have a film half done! Will have to finish it and cut it down to 30 secs and post it. What do we get if we win?  :D

Heh, not bad, but I think I'll add an addition to the rules. Let's see, how to phrase it to be most clear...

- The intent is to create new content in the month's time alotted for each deadline. Entries should be new creations, not previous releases. Naturally, if an entry has not been seen in completed form, it can be entered (say an entry from March isn't done, it could be finished and submitted for April's contest), but let us not abuse this good-faith rule to submit clips from many years back.

On another note, I've settled on the subject of mine, but I still need to decide what/how to tell it.

Will you continue to change the rules?

The original 30 second animated short contest (which inspired me) was meant to challenge animators to work on something new, rather than pull up something "from the archives."

I added this last rule only to keep in the spirit of the website that made me bring this up here. There is already another post, by donkey, for voting for pre-existing films. This activity will be for inspiring new films. If you prefer one over the other, you are covered on both fronts, just choose which suits you better and go there.

For those that don't know the above post is a troll, I'll answer anyways.

Don't be a tool.  It's a legit question.

The framing of the question was unfair and antagonistic. I will edit my post, though, as I see you have edited yours.

"Are you just going to change the rules whenever you like?" given past comments about me you've made, I took it as antagonistic, and it implied I had a history of making and changing rules in contests to cater to myself, which was unfair.

Then editing it to be an inoccuous statement, after I reply, and then creating a new reply below worded so as to make me look bad? Regardless of intention, that's the way it looked.

I'm sorry. Let's leave it at that.
