Well Skuzzy, I didn't want to do this but I'll give an example.
That guy arado31441325... He asks a tech question, but does so in a manner that is entirely irritating (using lolspeak and other intentional grammar and spelling errors). He gets maybe one or two legit answers, and a couple people making fun of how he types. I can't help but point out that he'd get a lot better response if he asked the question like an adult instead of as he did it. His response of course was a personal attack, since I had "attacked" his online persona which is pretty much limited to typing like a retard.
Worth reporting? No. Worth banning? Hell no. Irritating, distracting, and leading inevitably to off-topic arguments and personal attacks? Yes. So, why not let those who are unusually irritated by that sort of thing just ignore him? He will still interact with those who don't mind or who will continue to beat him up over his childish spelling and grammar choices, but those who add him to the ignore list simply won't be distracted. The same thing goes in threads that are otherwise "normal", but this guy adds a reply that immediately results in a few responses discussing not the topic, but how his response is ludicrous. An ignore list can cut down on that. I know for a fact that I will never respond on-topic to anything arado3254125 posts for no reason other than his online persona relies on a posting style that is completely out of place in these forums, yet I find every single post he has made to be irritating beyond reason. So, how about letting me apply a filter since I know this in advance?
No muss, no fuss, nobody complaining, fewer flamefests, fewer side-tracks.
The same can be said about anyone or anything in here. Everyone in here has at least one example of another forum member who just rubs them the wrong way. Whether it's insulting the president or some other public figure, harping on global warming (or cooling), gun discussions, or even one particular type of new car, some topics just keep coming up and are really irritating to some people for some reason. Why not let people ignore the other members who they know up front can be counted on to post something they find personally inflammatory? It's like that one guy who wanted you to ban someone who kept posting articles on the nissan GT-R... Sheesh. These aren't banning offenses, they're just irritating.
