First time I watched the film since history class 15 years ago, and let me tell you, those IJN pilots were nothing but a bunch of pickers.   First they deacked our destroyers and battleships, and then they wouldn't even let the P-40 pilots take off.   Everyone got vultched right on the runway.   Finally, a couple of P-40s get airborne, and what happens?  You guessed it: gang bang by the A6M pilots.  The dweebs didn't even have the honor to fight on equal terms. 

Let me tell you, it was a new low in the arenas tonight...  Now, I know what some of you are going to say: "don't take off from a capped field."  But these guys were in Hawaii.  On a map like that, the next airbase might be thousands of miles away, and with fuel multipliers, you'd never make it to the fight. <sigh>

side note, most(if not all) of the planes that were in the movie are stationed 30 mins from my house. makes for some cool moments on the weekends.

Well said!!....well done!! .....Not to mention all the HO's that the IJN pilots gave!  Sombody should have told these IJN "newbies" to talk smack on channel 200!!  Thank god the La7 is not Carrier based!!
