Mossie
« on: March 17, 2008, 07:07:21 AM »
I flew the Mossie for the first time in quite a while yesterday.Wow!! It was alot of fun. I turns pretty well, but I prefer to keep it fast. There was a good furball between p130 and a129 for a good hour or longer. Landed 10 but had at several sorties with 5 or more kills. I know alot of cartoon pilots like to turn it,but it is a great bnz plane. Now i dont mean like your normal pony jockey 5K abouve the fight. I mean like zooming to 1k   above just to  keep your E its awsome! Also when a plane is in your sights and you pull the trigger   :O " BOOOOM"

Is it just me or does the elevator feels like it is operated by rubber wires? Somewhat unresponsive in the pitch. It is as if I have the stall limiter on (I don't).

It is the coolest plane ever built and extremely fun in the MA, especially after it has been fixed, sort of. All it needs now is a 3D model upgraded to the new standards, the stupid flame dumpers removed and the rubber elevator wires replaced by metal wires.

Ive always been surprised its not seen in the game more often then it is. Especially mission-wise. Its 4 hispanos have gobs of cannon ammo, you can stack 8 rockets on it, and, some gravity bombs. Its very fast in the grass too, far faster then the 110. I know the 110 is stronger gun-wise but how many NOE missions have you been on when all the cannon rounds of a 110 have been used?

In my mind once the adequate firepower threshhold has been reached the absolute most important asset of a mission plane is speed. Speed is a great equalizer because you get places faster which increases your chance of surprising the enemy. I think Im going to start posting some realistic Mossie/Typhie NOE missions. Im willing to bet that used together they will provide a far better alternative then the 110 NOE setups that are starting to get a little stale.

mossie mossie mossie   oi oi oi!

Love the laser beam effect of the cannons.  I feel like an empowered Dalek with limited manouvreability but a power to be reckoned with.

I think I can count on one hand the actual number of times I have flown a mossie.

I think very few people realize that the mossie is usually the second fastest way to deliver 2000 lbs of bombs to a target (Typh is fastest). It is also the second best climber carying 2000 lbs (best being the 38). If you need a combat profile of climb - short cruise -bomb mossie might actually be the quickest to do it.

And now that it doesn't burst into flame at the slightest hit it is one of the most durable aircraft in the game, if a tad easy to hit.  I have survived a lot of auto-ack hits and passing snapshots in it.

It would be a tad quicker without the stupid exhaust shrouds ;)

Actually after my first post I ran back to the MA and ran some RAF missions with Mossies and Typhoons. We took 3 bases in a row. The Mossie is simply to good to sit in the hangar. Even better its a great alternative to the same old boring 110 NOE missions. And now with the Whirbels being such a threat its divebombing abilities, along with the A-20, should be even more useful.

its a great plane, but i cant fly it, with it, or against it without getting frame spanked...  for some reason it gives me about 5 FPS evrytime i get within d800 of one....

if any1 has a fix, it would help, cuz the mossie is great fun!
If i said anything to offend u, plz ignore it.
