I had some good fights with the AI, it actually flys quite well. Certainly well enough for decent training purposes and definitely a great start at a worthy opponent.

I can only imagine the work that has gone into this, well done HT.

I noticed the same thing as many others, the AI was very timid on the guns. In seeing how well it would shoot the AI got 200 off my six and didn't fire a single round.

Another time, though, I got the drop on the AI, shot it up and pulled up over the top. It followed me up and sprayed from 600 out.

All in all... fantastic work.

You can rope it- It seems' like after you get far enough above it, and it's nose is pointed away from you, It loses its' SA, and doesn't re-aquire you until you get back within 1.5k. But then, it's low and slow.

Not too bad at all..he put up a pretty good fight. :aok
Is there a way to make our our own offline AI Practice Missions?

well, reading through this thread i see most are saying they've beat the ai dude with relative ease. i didn't....out of 5, i only took 2 of them. i couldn't get good angles at speed, and could hardly control the pony below 200...which happened as i was trying to keep my lift vector on him. he got my 6, and i started a scissors, and just about when he was gonna cross in front of my guns, the pony did a departure stall. i don't know my speed at that point as i was outdside the airplane(i mean i was eyes on target..not flying F3 mode). the ponyD also feels worse than the ponyB that i've flown in MA midwar? did the flight models change again?

flaps.

fought it again, and again, my gunnery is toejam...but had multiple firing oppurtunities, only gave him 1 (its pretty good at forcing an overshoot)  and got lucky on a snapshot.

not a bad AI, its like fighting with a fish...fun fight, though the outcome is in little doubt, if it cant manage to keep a guy who barely plays from killing it.

it at least provides a moving target for more experienced players and, should provide a decent level of fight for the new guys.

It did that to me! I come in below him, climb up behind him (like I always do in a head-On situation), and when I look back he's already on the deck flying 500mph the other other direction!

I think the AI does better than most guys......... shot it and it bailed once, then it augured and then I think it augured but wasn't actually eying it as it hit.  All three fights were fun though.  Great job guys.

Oh.. And it's not a whiner or a smack talker which makes it better than 98% of the pilots on aces high. :)

Remember guys that this is actually a mission which consists of taking off, fighting, and returning to base.  When the AI vanishes on you and RTBs, consider that to be the AI equivalent of out of fuel.  There is only about a 8 minute window for fighting.  (Keep in mind that although you warped to the engagement area you used up the fuel needed to get there.)

Other missions, other outcomes.

Neat training tool and preview on what CT could be like.

The AI seems to hit the silk at the first sign of real damage.  Only once did I shoot off a visible chunk and he not bail out.

It is not a real difficult fight to win but actually flies decent.  About what I would expect from an AI opponent.  Just sharp enough to keep you honest, but the real challenge from the players.

I am really lookinf forward to other aircraft being added to it as I am not really  a pony jockey.

I Agree 100%

"Otto" gives a very decent fight - plays a pretty decent vertical game and definitely plays far better than the average arena player.   I'd say a 70th percentile player.  Best AI I have ever seen actually - much better than IL2-1946 (which IMHO was the former AI champ).

Considering the last version only allowed you to go after lazy circling drones, it's a quantum leap forward and is great offline fun.

I CAN'T THANK HTC ENOUGH - it's the best upgrade ever IMHO.   :rock
