AI bailing from good plane?
« on: March 19, 2008, 06:23:51 PM »
I tried out the new AI just a few minutes ago and for anyone without good throttle control he might be a little tough.

When we got into scissors I put a good burst on his engine with an oil hit. Shorty there after I scored another descent hit and was moving in for a kill shot when he bailed. What was wierd was his plane was in good working order other than trailing oil smoke. His plane continued on for a good 30 seconds flying in a roughly ballistic path. This poked holes in my original theory that because of a visual bug I couldn't see the damage. The only other theory I have came up with is I pilot wounded him.

Why would he bail?

I went back and tried it a few more times.....same thing oil hit and he bailed twice! The third time I didnt even give him a oil hit and he bailed. All 4 times not a single piece fell off his plane.

Did they give me a leftover bish pilot?

Maybe like a real WWII pilot after he receives a oil hit he bails because he believes the end is nigh.  Maybe...

Oil hit yes......a few pings no.

My average fight lasts 30 seconds, ends with the AI bailing, with a plane I would take home and rearm sometimes....what the?

Are you wearing a scary clown mask?

If you are, I would bail too.

I think AI bailing from a functional plane is proof that HTC is going the extra mile to replicate human behavior in the MA.

I'm sure what it is, is HTC is making it more realistic and the pilot bailed due to the oil hit, now as for him bailing that 1 time when he had no oil hit, maybe you gave him a pilot wound and thats why he bailed.

Maybe Skuzzy will come in here and let us know what the conditions for the A.I bailing are.

IDK, maybe the AI is coded with a random skill level?  Every time you use it, it generates a random skill level for the AI.  You may have lucked out, and got the AI pilots that got off the short bus those four times?  I've heard of Vets stating that the AI shot them down, so keep trying, maybe you will get a good one next time.

lol.  Of the two fights I've had with the A.I., they've been funner then 95% of all my MA fights...

I think the A.I. is better then 90% of all MA players also. :lol

PS:  Just wish we could change the planes now, but I guess that will come in due time.

Repo.....I had to have money around my neck to get a girl! :D

I think Grits is on the right track. The end is near and they figure a chute is better than bullet.

I have flown with AI some more and my opinion still stands. I have yet to get shot down and the AI bails out more than he gets shot down.

I know my aim sucks with 50s but 10-20 pings and its bailing everytime!

I think HTC is just teasing me! :D

Yeah, BlueJ and Grits are right, IMHO. AI has been developed for CT, hence, it won't fight till death, it'll try to preserve itself. A new lifeform is born! :D

Btw, how did you get to fly that mission? It keeps saying me that I didn't select a flight... what should I do? I wanna try it!

EDIT: ok, I found, it wasn't so difficult to start! :D Not bad AI... I'd say if flies like 80% of MA ranklovers.... if not better! :D
