P-39 speed

I did some real quick on the deck speed test for the two P-39s

P-39D  308MPH

P-39Q (no wing guns)  308,  329 (WEP)

P-39Q (w/wing guns)  301,  322 (WEP)

For comparison

P-40E  282,  297
Spit V  289,  304
Ki61    303,  313
109E   283,  293

The D looks to be pretty fast for an early war ride, but the Q is not great considering its competition in mid-war.

1 on 1 p39 not much of a challenge yet because no one really has any experience, spit8's in late war are still the monkey on my back....

As I said in game. Give it a week and you wont see any P39s in the LWMAs.

I dont think you will see it in the Mid war much either. It will be a great addition for us in the AvA with all the theaters it was used in, especially PAC and with the Soviets.

No way, I'm keeping my P-39D.  2 Seafires and a F6F in one sortie, down low and weed whacking, and I didn't use the uberkannon. (because I goofed and had the droptank selected :D)

Don't know if I'd agree with ya.  We had a bunch of fun with em tonite.  Folks just need to learn how to fly them.  They don't go uphill worth anything, which is accurate if the pilots who really flew them are to be believed.  But they go downhill very fast and can turn fairly well on the deck.  First kill in a Q tonite was a Spit VIII that I was turning with on the deck.

Visibility is going to take some getting used to, and it's not anything near uber so most of the I gotta go really fast with big cannons crowd will quit flying it.

But I think there will be folks who use it.

Dont get me wrong, I like it, but the novelty will wear off faster with the P-39 than other new rides before it like the Ki84.

The big 37mm bounces off Wirlbwind turrets unless you get a good solid hit.  You can tear up a tank but they keep right on going.

Kinda hard to get close to Flaks now for some reason.  :rolleyes:

Thats gonna be true. Even looking at the ENY for the 39. What i think is the 39 is gonna replace the P-40E. thats just my guesss
