La-5 and La-7 flight modeling changed
« on: March 20, 2008, 12:54:19 AM »
After reading the "read me".

Quote
Made some minor handling changes to the La-5 and La-7 flight modeling, performance was not changed.

I'm left pondering what the actual effect is.  Anyone care to shed some light ?  It's still pink...right ?

They added heat seeking bullets that are more effective from the front than behind and after-burners that automatically enable after you've flown past a target from the front and fired at least 100 rounds.  Those changes made it a brighter, prettier shade of pink.   :D

Really, I flew the 7. I didn't notice anything different.  I'm not a big LA expert though.  The max speed at which flaps are available may be lower now, but I could be imagining that.  The cockpit and the new modeling job is really nice.

Oh yeah, it has a special sensor in the cockpit that makes sure your flight suit is color coordinated and you are wearing fashionable shoes.  Don't even try to talk over range without a lisp or the new ejection seat flings ya out of the cockpit (but only after giving your bottom a little pinch)....   :lol

Couldn't tell any real difference in how it flew. Ground handling perhaps?

I didn't really notice any difference in performance or handling.

Roll rate a little slower maybe?

Although the acceleration seemed sluggish, Im sure it was just the Capt. Morgan effect.

Or was it? :noid

I loved the overall look of the plane and cockpit.

However, the altimeter is partially blocked by some type of large red handhold or something.(not sure what it is)

Not that it really matters, as it is usually spinning backwards rather quickly as I plunge in flames to my untimely demise.

Great Job HTC !!!

Its for manually clearing the breach on the 3rd cannon............. take up the 2 cannon bird and you can see the altimeter more clearly

The La5 has much worse slow turn rate than I remember, but it has been a long time since I flew one.

I agree, the la's are more unstable at low speeds, which would seem more accurate given their small wings.

I found the the plane the same although the cockpit airspeed indicator showing 100+ mph too low, this may explain all the augering  :rofl

Shows how much I know...................

I found it more stable if anything............... particularly in hard e bleeding turns. Stall recovery is to the manual ( cut throttle push stick forward no rudder) it comes straight out of stall.

Roll rate may be very slightly less now..............

The incorrect speedo may be decieving me but I felt that the accel under non WEP was worse.

All this is as it should be IMO

I hung onto a Ki 84's tail (for all the pilots evasives) last night in the La5FN ............ anecdotal I know but not something I could bank on before
