thank god!!
you mean there's not gonna be 15 ostis on a single vbase now/? or a flock of them running to the 1/2 down town?

 :O

I have bad news for you:   The Wirbelwind takes down town buildings even faster than the Ostwind does.

Guys, this is not about someone cheating or being too good, of course i know ltars are that good, everyone knows that.
Aparently the change was done for a reason, as to why it was not done with the wirble and all gv's i dunno.

But to compare that, to the view INSIDE the planes cockpit holds no ground.

Send HTC a mail asking why, and then let us know.

From viewing photos of actual Ostwinds, it does appear that the new view may actually be more historically accurate.

What has really changed, though, is the inability to raise up your view as much with the PAGE UP key.

Since the new patch came out how often do you see anybody in an Osti? Very few if any. This is because it is now unusable for anything other than taking down a town. Historically you could get back behind the armor where your head was down but.....you could also be high enuff to see what you were shooting at and what the targets were. I don't think this was done on purpose and believe it to be a bug or poor modeling. HTC can you comment on this. This is a very good GV that was very important in base defense from low/mid alt attackers. The Wirblewind can only reach out to 1.5 - 2 K....whereas the Osti was good to 2.5 to 3k....and yes even for us those 3 and 4 k shots were rare.  :salute.  I would like to see mines that can be deployed from a jeep or m3...that would be cool. Also we need the big German railroad gun that can be moved around on land kinda like the CV's are now... :aok

In the first 6 days after the Wirbel was introduced, it got 12,600 kills. The Ostwind claimed 1,000 at the same time.

Nope...can't see as how it has hurt gameplay in anyway, except taken away some of the fun that flakking used to be. (People used to be REALLY stupid around Ostis because most people won't stick with them long enough to learn to be dangerous. They are smarter with Wirbels around.). I always knew better, and never got too crazy low with flaks in the area, don't believe I've been shot down by a Wirbel in a plane since they came out. An accurate dive bomber takes out the Wirble quite easy without entering most people's effective range for anything longer than a split second. The wirbel is only really dangerous to those puttering along at 3,000 feet agl. Vulchers, lanc-stuka types, town strafers in IL2s, de-ackers. Not much threat to those dive bombing at high speed or level bombing with a little alt. Gives GVs/defenders a fighting chance, favors true divebombing and level bombing over strafing with a C-hog, moves the whole fight maybe a might higher. Its a good thing.

It is a shame about the views in the Osti, they ought to fix them abit so people will drive them, its a fine machine and a little more punch for slightly high buffs and the like.

Quit back-peddling.  Views are not exploits.

Compared to the view INSIDE the planes cockpit, it's EXACTLY equivalent to taking away saved head positions in anything other than forward view in any of the F4U's.  If HT did that, I bet you'd see the number of F4U's in the arenas drop precipitously (sp) as there would be no SA and the outcry would be huge.  Of course those who choose to save those head positions are obviously exploiting the game

In fact, I think they should take away saved head views in planes.  Weren't the pilots strapped in?  I certainly can't move my neck as far as I can move my head position in the game.  What about moving your head back?  Wasn't the pilots head restricted by a head rest or something?  And I'm certainly not Linda Blair!  Yep, I think I'll send HT an e-mail about head positions in aircraft.  Totally unrealistic and only a dweeb would use such an exploit.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Easy eagle.  :rofl

Does not matter what i do or say (GASP or even think), you will probably never get back your osti view.
The best thing you can hope for is a spotter position.

And a FYI, pilots can move there heads around like that, and the ability to do so is another reason this game has a HUGE number or trackIR users and such other said devices. and NONE of them to my understanding are simply used for a person to stand up to get a better shot with a osti. (Altho its very possible)

Osti's turret and gunner position got updated aswell, the old view was for the "old" osti.
New osti turret is now taller, and the gunner sit's deeper inside.
Observer spot needed!, the T34 has one, bring it on for the osti please! (see, i do care)

I hope that will be good enough.

I notice that the driver's head position still has the ability to move around outside the hull of the tank. I wonder which of the views is an oversight- the inside views with a wide range of movement, or the gunner's views, with a very limited range?

Raising the drivers head up is the same as driving with the hatch open.  Having the gunners view like it used to be is like having more than one in the turret.  Both thought processes are legit.
