Can anyone tell me what arena settings I would need in order to practice dive bombing offline and not be killed by the enemy AI?
It's annoying to practice getting lined up and releasing 1 salvo and get my wing shot off  :frown:
Yes I know, avoiding enemy fire is all part of it, but first I need to learn how to jabo effectively!  Also, is there any way to set unlimited bombs or at least more than 2
Thanx!   :salute

Turn ProtectObjects off and you can bomb frienldy structures and destroy them without any field guns firing at you.

can anyone give me instructions for good dive bombing? :rock
thanks for any help. :salute

Get at a good altitude, anywhere from 15-20 thousand feet.  Point your nose at a 70% angle towards your target.  Select your weapon via backspace button.  Drop before pulling up.  It takes practice, i'm not very good at it myself.

http://www.netaces.org/mossie/mossie.htm#jabo

It was written as part of the "fix the mossie, save a tree" campaign, but holds true to dive bombing in any plane.

So thanks again for all the help :salute
but i still have two problems:
I can t gain height really good and when i pull off the target (even without throttle at the dive) i lose pieces (usually the gears with the JU-87) from my plane.
Can anyone give me tipps for that and what plane do you think is the best for dive bombing?

This just my opinion, but I think the best dive bomber in the game is the F4U-1D. Yes, the JU-87 has a single VERY big bomb, comparable to the max load out of the F4U-1D, but after dropping it, the JU-87 cannot compare to the offensive/defensive power of the F4U-1D, nor does it have the ability to pinpoint more than a single target whilst carrying the single BIG bomb. The F4U-1D can target at least 6 targets and then
furball should it survive all the ack (I don't survive much ack nowadays). <grin>

P-38s and P-47s are also good solid JABO airframes...

P-51s....well....a single .303 to the cooler should put it out of the JABO realm...but it doesn't in AH...so I reluctantly nod to it also...but only in desperation.

FW-190s? Yes...another good choice; doesn't carry the load of a Corsair, but can certainly drop ordnance and fight.

Just some thoughts....

Ripping gear on a Ju87 might be a sign your too fast. I like to have 5k altitude minimum above my target. More if enemy are around.
And that Ju87 will take awhile to climb to a reasonable altitude opposed to other fighter/attack aircraft.

Bombers are big heavy aircraft, it also takes them a long time to climb to altitude, say 14k alt.
Don't overload fuel, in most MA situations, 50% gas is plenty in a bomber and 25% works for many flights.
Use the alt x climb for general best climbrate.

Everything is going to totally depend on what you are flying.  I hunt GV's in attack mode all the time in a variety of planes.  In the F6F-5 I like to start 10K over the target (you can see their dots on the ground at that alt), dive at 45-50 degrees at full throttle with my pipper dead on the target and drop at ~1K, then pull out (gently enough not to break a wing).

On the other hand, in a JU-87 you don't want to be over ~6.5K for a full power dive at the same angle, and depending on the size of the bomb, you may have to keep the pipper aimed just past the target.

The faster (and lower) you are when you drop the more accurate you will be.

At 45 degrees your bomb will still arm at ~500 feet.  The 800' requirement is total distance travelled, both vertically and horizontally, so don't drop so early that your not aligned properly.

When hunting Flaks, I like to start higher and drop anywhere from 3-6K.  This keeps me out of their effective guns range.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

What's minimum size bomb for taking out GV's?

You can kill lightly armoured vehicles (M3s, Jeeps etc) with guns alone. To kill tanks though 250lb bombs are more than enough :). They also fly more straight imho . People also regularly kill tanks with rockets though I am yet to acheive that goal :pray. (My P38J's 3.5" rockets aren't that good).
