Ditch on your base???
« on: March 23, 2008, 08:50:27 PM »
I'm sure this has been covered but really.......   With all the great code HTC provides, how is it you end sortie at an ammo bunker, on your on base, and it's a ditch.

It's just stupid.  And as development goes, it aint a hard fix........

So?

This won't be put in, because it is a chain...

HTC would allow landings anywhere on field
people whine they ditch 2 feet off runway
HTC would allow landings 5 feet off runway
people would whine when they ditch 20 feet off the runway
Chain reaction, eh?

Sorry.... I didn't specify......  GV's

And to further this......  I rolled up to an ammo bunker with no engine, right up against it.  THAT is still a ditch.

Used to be anywhere on concrete, were there any enemies near?

Enemy code should not make a difference.  But... Yes there was.  No, nobody got a proxy on it.

The chain reaction arguement is fair enough... People will always whine.

I still think that the airfield boundary should be the cut off-line, but whatever... it's all good.

Just for the sake of conversation here. Yeah it definetly sucks if you stop just short of concrete (especially the runway) and it is ditch, it sucks and should the airfield it self should be ''land successful' point. I haven't had my name in lights on endless times because of stopping short as i'm sure we all have. I just say in country chat 'that sucked, just short of runway' then up in another plane. You still get credit for the kills anyway  :aok

It should and it do. In GV you are safe to land anywhere (even close to enemy base) unless there are enimies around or your vehicle got hits before (not necessarily damaged). Reasons are quite obvious.
Sometimes it dont work though (or there are more conditions i dont aware about), so better land on concrete and be sure you stop completely.

I'm pretty sure it works the same way on base as it does on base regarding enemy, but don't quote me on that.  Unless you're on the runway when an enemy is around it's not a successful landing.  Frustrating, sure, just take the 30 seconds to rumble onto the runway to land.  You can e mail HTC and ask if you want.  support@hitechcreations.com

I think the modeling stands up to basically what they actualy did in real life. Most pilots would make every effort to get there plane home or as close to home as possible. To far from home you risked capture, within friendly area good chance you'd be rescued or bail sucessfully. I kind of agree that it would be nice to have like a large invisible square around the base were any wheels down/undamaged aircraft/gv landing would be successful but then again i do agree that people would start whining that the square wasn't big enough. I actually like the challenge of bringing in a wounded bird/gv and trying to get it onto the runway or any concrete i can. Think of this, your on your bombing attack dive to kill a running tiger, he knows your going to drop and more than likely kill him before he can get to concrete but he knows that he is within the base perimeter. He bails, gets successful bail and saves perks. Think there'd be any whineing over that?

I'll tell ya what sucks, spawn a tiger to enemy base, look at map and realise you're at the wrong spawn, end sortie and lose the perk points DOH! I've even given proxies that was too  :lol
