Osti Bug?
« on: March 24, 2008, 12:48:07 AM »
Not sure whether this is a bug or perm change made in last patch.  Unable to pan up and look arounf with the Osti now.  Unable to see attack from sides or rear.  Able to pan up with sight, however at extreme angles sight blocks your view.

Hopefully this is a bug.

I do not think it's a bug. Seems pretty much deliberate to me.  ;)

Not that i like it, but see the different gunner position on these models :

The Wirbelwind picture appears to have the gunners seat directly behind the gun and deeper inside.  Yet you can page up and save views all around.  The opposite for the Osti.  In the arena the Osti sides seem to be higher (this could be because I was always locked out in the upper position) now, with no option of paging up.

I was in it for the first time since the patch came out.  It's nearly impossible to track nme aircraft now until it's on top of you.  Like I said, hopefully it's just an oversight, but Lusche your probably right  :cry

If you examine the pics, you will see that the gunsight is much higher on the Wirbelwind than on the Ostwind. It's looking over the the gun barrel, while with the Ostie it's much lower, to the side of it, hence the cutout in the gunshield.

I agree, the osite has been ruined.   I wasn't up to LTAR standards but I could get a couple of hundred kills a month in an ostie before the patch.  Now it isn't even worth taking out.

Lusche what about spoters that the osti's had?? this would give them full vizzz on all air craft. i always thought this is why they let us page up out of the turret to make up for that.

Yea I agree Badhorse.  All those years as an LTAR the Osti has always been my bread and butter.  The upgrades (eye candy) are great <S> HTC, but with the inability to spot & track the nme I foresee the Osti becoming another dust collector in the hanger.

But again, I want to keep positive here and hope it's an over-sight.  If not, there's always the Wirbelwind.......but I'll surely miss my Osti.

Being one of the few people that did not know you could change views on the Osti for me it has had no impact on my shooting with it. I have learned to hit targets even when they are below the top lip of the turret & for the most part I was never able to see where the planes were but knew were they were heading & just led them way in front. So I would say just re-learn how you will soon get the hang of it.
