How does roger wilco work in AH?
« on: April 03, 2001, 04:47:00 AM »
Maybe Ill have better luck with RW on my new puter, so maybe Ill use it more.

How does one use it in AH? I read there is some sort of integrated RW feature in AH, does this mean you dont have join RW channels directly by typing in IP#? Is is generally reliable for you guys?

thanks

Is there a version of RW somewhere available that is not bundled with the Gaytor 'helper'?

I don't want the companion the Gaytor is offering.

Best to use it by the old fashioned method of establishing an IP then giving it out to whomever...the channel 5 method is to say the least, unpredictable.

Our squad has been using RW since day 1 and so far no problems. An occasional RW dump every now and then but nothing serious. We're usually using a RW base station. Works fine with the inbuilt radio5-tuning.

Q:"How does roger wilco work in AH?"
A: Very poorly

I use it if I want to hit CTRL+ALT+DEL every 5 minutes or so. Other than that I stick with Battlecom. http://www.shadowfactor.com

If you have DX8, don't bother.  If you still have 7a (better IMO anyway) it works fine for most.  I use it with the 1c mod 1 (without gator) and it works fine.

For those happy using Battlecom (and why not it does give better performance than RW as wel las have more features) you might want to try Microsoft's Game Voice, for a little more than the price of a decent headset you get voice comms (basically Battlecom rebadged as an MS product) and very nice Plantronics headset and a nifty channel selector hardware device that also allows you to switch between headset and speakers as well as voice command software. I was sceptical of this product at first but since BETA 1.2a its got alot of the functionality of Battlecom back into the program and with BETA 1.3 coming out this month with dedicated server support this could become the squad comms program of choice. Give the Shareware version a whirl at: http://www.gamevoice.com/gamevoice.htm

I've been useing RW with Dx8a and have very few probs with it.  The only thing that happens is sometimes it cannot hook up to the host...my fix is to go to RW's web site and select AH <channel 169 I belive> then go back to AH and retune and all is well.

RW will work fine with Dx8.  Just set RW to Wav recording mode and it runs perfectly.

Are battlecom and RW mutually exclsive or can they mix and match as long as your on the same channel?
