I think the reason we wont be seeing the new maps is due to the new tiles, and base layouts, simply put the older versions might not be compatable.
if they did go back and change everything, the time for a over haul would probably take about as long to fix things, as it would just starting from scratch, and we still dont know what will or has already been implemented for CT.
They may use the Ai for more than just air combat, maby even for ship to ship, or tank vs. tank combat.
