Solo!
« on: March 24, 2008, 02:58:19 PM »
I'm proud to relay the good news to all of my fellow AH and O'Club regulars.

Today, at 11:33 AM, I soloed for the first time.

Just one step closer to that private pilot's rating.

I'm still excited.  :D

Congrats.

It must be quite an experience lifting off for the first time totally alone.

Woo-hoo, congratulations IceFox!  It's a fan-damntastic feeling, isn't it?  And it's just the start, you'll have other firsts that will knock your socks off.  My long-XC (solo, of course) is burned into my brain as "The flight when everything clicked together" and I fully "got" what general aviation could be, so keep it up and keep us appraised!

You'll never forget this day.  I still remember mine from 21 years ago....

(The plane fly's a lot different without the instructor in it.....all sorts of noises I never heard before...)

I remember my first solo, I didn't know when to pull up for takeoff because my Instructor wasn't there to suck in a big gulp of air while making a "huh" sound when I got near the end of the runway.   Flying solo I had to start keeping my eyes open on takeoff and landing.    :D

Congrats!

It was definitely an experience that I won't forget. It's an interesting feeling when you advance the throttle for take-off and glance over to see that seat empty.

I'll admit that I planted my first of the three landings. The third, however, was smooth as silk. I'll probably never have a landing like that again. :D

That moment when the instructor says 'pull it up here, leave the engine runnin,' ..and he just steps out.

I swear my heart stopped.

No way did I think I was ready .. but DAMN ..'this is gonna be sooo coool' I thought..ya .. I remember it like yesterday.

I setup for takeoff the way I wanted .. a roll onto the runway, got straight all the while advancing the throttle and ol' Four Zero Romeo lifted off *way* early and actually had a climb rate!

Oh yaa .. it's one of the coolest days .. it wil be with you forever.

I had soo much fun :)
