Saitek X52 FCS Losing Calibration
« on: April 01, 2008, 11:56:03 PM »
I just got an X52 FCS and also DL'd the Saitek_Recalibration program for when the thing goes haywire and loses it's calibration but some nights.....like tonight, it loses the calibration about 4 or 5 times!!!!  :furious I have to log-out, unplug the X52, hit the recalibration program and then log back in. Is there not something I can do to keep it from doing that mutliple times in one evening!!  I run Windows XP.

Thanks

I run an X52.  There have only been 2 times that the system went out of calibration for me.  Both times it was spyware the was hogging my resources and interfering with the interface.

Might not be your issue, but those are the only times the program didn't function correctly.

could be a usb port issue.
Many of us use a powered external usb hub with the X52.

Im having the same problem with mine. On some night I have to recalibrate often. I had pinned down the problem as a cable connection issue to the X-52. Over time it seems the cable connector to my X-52 has gone a little ratty. Sometimes it disconnects on its own, or from my twisting the unit around.

I honestly don't know what is causing it for sure. However, I do believe the profile software is the culprit. I had the same problems and now don't use that software. You may want to check your profile.

That's all I know.

I've never had an issue with my X52 FCS in over two years now (just) of use.
I've never even had to recalibrate.
A powered USB hub could be a big help, they do tend to use a bit of power.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think it may have to do with when I'm flying a plane that requires long slow turn fights in the weeds. I flew a different plane last night where I wasn't getting involved with having the stick yanked all the way back and holding it there as the nme and I circled each other down in the weeds and it didn't happen a single time. I'll try to take note of when it does happen more often and if it continues I'll try the powered USB port out.  :salute

You might have simply been close to stall speed and pulling up too hard on the stick.  This will cause the plane to go into a spin sometimes (which I guess could be mistaken for a calibration issue).

Keep in mind, this is more of a simulator than an arcade game... you can't simply jerk the stick around.  You have to get a feel for what the plane is going to do, and use slow, gradual adjustments with the stick (just like real life).

Kind of like a race car.. you can't simply jerk the steering wheel all the way to the left at 200mph, and expect it to actually turn left on you!

Considering he's been around for something in the order of four years, I'd say he's got a handle on the control techniques :p

Oh.. that's 'my bad'... I saw he only had five posts, and kind of assumed he was a nooby.

Please accept my apology...

A bunch of folks rarely post in here.   TMAST is a good guy.

I have an X52, a powered USB hub and I STILL lose calibration at random times.
