dude we have been through this there were mutliple attacks on the us mainland by seaplanes carried in a sub. look it up.

like i said in my previous reply:

The Japanese did that, i only believe once tho. They were off the coast of Oregon i believe, they lunched a biplane with incendiary bombs. They intended to start huge forest fires, hoping that it would delay the US from attacking them. But it was a "successful" mission in part of the plane lunched and was recovered, but the forest fires they intending on starting was a bust.

Now another time a japanese sub surfaced off the west coast and opened fire on a fort or factory, something like that, but damage was minimal.

Okay, here's a question..... Would they be part of the battle group or would you have to deploy them like a PT boat??   If they are going to part of the battle group and only be there for support of the other ships then okay, that should be an easy addition per say.   But like said before, if you're planning on deploying these like a PT boat, then you're playing with underwater environments and that's going to be A LOT of work!!!   Then you have to come up with some sort of way to detect the subs and a way to destroy them.   Or, will this be the first "undetectable" platform?  If you're underwater and can't be seen or found, this would be a first.  What's next, we gonna launch ICBM's from them??   IMO, needs a lot more thought and a lot more planning before we can expect to see these...... :salute

This answers those questions:

Subs are somthing Ive always wanted to put in the game. My father is a WWII submariner.  USS Carbanaro

Basicly how they would work, is simalar to how convoys and gunners work. You wouldn't just be able to launch a sub then have to drive it for hours to it's destination. What would happen is a subs way points would be set. They would drive themslefs to where you wanted. Once on some one could take control of one of the subs.

Other things also need to be written for subs to be implemented namly sonar for surface ships and depth charges.

Frame rate of what? Solid blue and some ship hulls from the underneath?

Seems like "frame rate hits!" is becoming the standard negative reply to wishes.

Frame rate my pink hairy butt.
All you will see is an interior of a sub and (if you're at periscope depth) a 'scope view much like selecting F6 in buffs.
Subs will probably be the most render friendly environment in the whole game.

guys if we do subs with manual control as well as waypoints, then that would be an excuse to do so with cv's. That way we can dodge torpedoes.

Blimps were the #1 defence against submarines along the US coast in WWII, so we need blimps and subs.

the blimps i dont think sunk 1 sub. they were a deterrent. the planes that sunk them were sea-planes.
