The only true air-to-air rockets in the game are the WGr21 rockets carried on certain German aircraft.  All others are for air-to-ground use.  The WGr21's, IIRC have a timed detinator.

one of my sons, halocris, has shot down a few bombers with them on his hog or pony.

xorro tried twice to do my bombers today, not so fortunate

It's fun killing bombers with rockets.  Although I've only done it once aiming isn't too hard.  I was 1.5K out from B-24's in an F6F-5 and climbing to them, i fired volleys of two rockets with the bombers at the bottom of the gunsight.  Only 1 rocket hit but that was enough distraction to get closer and kill the others right before he got my wing

I personally never carry ord, but if you have ever watched any of murdrs movies he uses the air to ground rockets on his 38.
I forgot which video it was (I have it somewhere), but he shot them at planes that were pretty much NOE over the ocean and hit a fighter
which garnered him a kill. Although I think he got a couple more kills with them shooting them at some b26's.

Back in AH1, I would always see him firing his rockets at spawning aircraft. I was got a kick out of that.

Upped a F6F with rockets from a carrier, but we took the base as I was climbing out. Saw a C2 coming in ready to HO, so I thought "Why let these rockets go to waste?" Fired all 6 and killed the C2. 

So, yes it is possible

that is very true. diving in on a set of buffs on the water fire rockets into the water just infront of them and you will kill them.
