II. Gruppe JG53 Gruppenadjutant Bf-109F-2
« on: April 03, 2008, 11:10:30 PM »
Well, here is the original profile:

Here is my aircraft, this is my first Bf-109 to be submitted. Im thinking of toning back the splotches on the nose, but Ill see what you all think. (Notes: I am aware I did not create exit points for the shell casings. That has been fixed, and I am simply too lazy to get more screenshots until the list of 100 things ive done wrong comes in)

Camo doesn't line up on the left flap, mate.

I'm no expert on LW aircraft, but this looks like a nice start.    You're missing the yellow triangle (is that a fuel type warning decal?) on the side of the fuselage.

Also, I'd spend a lot more time on the mottling and try to come closer to the look of the profile.   The profile's mottles have more variation in darkness - some are entirely fainter, some are more faint at their edges and get darker towards the middle.    Plus there more of them than you've done.

Always liked those yellow-nosed 109s.

I can't see anything on the underside.  You should roll the plane over into sunlight for those shots.

The "2" on the right side is reversed. Is that a mirroring issue?

Good call, Moot, give us some better shots of the underside.

Good spotting, Hammer.

I'd also suggest a slight blending of the two camo colours. Nothing stupid, don't go and get a big blur tool and smudge it to hell and back... Just a slight air-brush overlap distortion. The paint will look a little more realistic that way

Thats how it is in the default 109F. I copied that since I couldnt find any other references as to the upper-wing cammo.

Will work on all of those other things tomorrow. Thanks all!

What is your reference for that? I've never seen that.

Upper wing camo placement does look odd.

Happy to see another JG53 bird being skinned.  Though the 15mm in the F-2 is a little unsettleing at first.   It take alot more hits to damage your foes that the 20mm, but you get used to it.

Yep, sure is nice to see that 'Pik-As' emblem on the side  :aok

F-2 had 15mm? Did you mean MG 151?

Update:

Disregard lack of yellow triangle. Its already been fixed, just not photoed. Ive redone the mottling from scratch, changed the lower half of the flap to match the upper, and fixed the reversed '2'.

Nope Bf.109F-2 had a spinner mounted 15mm and 2 cowl mounted 7mm.  Not kidding about that.  It is why alot of aces like Galland wanted to keep their old Emils up and running. :D
